No 40K thread yet? I'm surprised. Nay, shocked, shocked I say to discover there's gambling going on in this establishment...
I'm eagerly anticipating the imminent 5th Edition release, personally, but I was interested to know if anyone here plays and has a differing opinion on it. There are certainly plenty of people out there who seem to think that 40K 4th edition "only just" came out and that a new edition isn't needed. Anyone?
Warhammer Fantasy (including Age of Sigmar and WFRP) has its own thread here.

One thing, Im the only one here who wants to know more about the unification wars? I meant everything I here about terra before the great crusade sound really grimdark...and awsome
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"
Not so much the Unification Wars, but what happened just after while the Great Crusade was more or less still confined to the Sol System. Such as the Xenos forces plaguing Jupiter and Saturn, the War Witches of Venus and so on and so forth.
I think is one of the strong point of this setting: they use of criptic background reference into the point you have to know more.
As for me, I woundt be bad to have a little game set in sol system before the great crusade, the gene-cult of luna, mars befroe take the start, jupiter....there is a lot going on
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"... There were xenos in the Solar System?
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Well, we have the Star Dragon for one.
Void Dragon. There's a very clear difference in meaning between "Void" and "Star".
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Indeed there is. I must have been thinking of the novel by Mike Brotherton.
Ah, the Void Dragon. One of the best potential plot hooks they'll never use.
Rumor has it that we will not be seeing any substantial new 40K material until October, when Tau drops. Single releases may be possible, but nothing codex level significant. GW is putting all of their focus into the new WHF stuff this summer.
Well to be fair, is one of this "end game plot hooks" so unless you want to see end times in warhammer 40.000 it best let him slept
And yes, there was xenos in sosl system, it never said what type....but it was, strange about it
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"I have a question about the policy of the Character Pages. Should we really be listing rules one them? Personally I have been of the opinion that rules from previous editions are fine to put up but current edition rules should be talked about more generally, which is why when I wrote the entry for Doombreed I mentioned his rules as they were from 2nd Edition but only made general comments when I added some tropes to Kranon the Relentless' entry as they are still current.
What do people think?
So long as we don't find ourselves in a position where the TVT character pages could actually substitute for the 'dexes, I think we're fine.

Schild und Schwert der ParteiAccording to Lexicanum, Jupiter and Saturn were being attacked and or partially controlled by unnamed Xenos forces at the time of the Unification Wars and driving them off is part of why the previously independent colonies signed up to the Imperium so readily.
I'm fine with putting the rules there, as they can help expand a trope's definition to cover both the fluff and the crunch. We just need to make sure to keep them up to date and note when they no longer apply, like what was done with Ezekiel and the Mind Worm power in the new DA codex.
Ah right that's cool then. I had just remembered that some sites I had seen had rules about that sort of thing due to GW's attitude towards copyright and thought I would check.
I'm replacing some of the pics on the Tau page with larger versions. For Shadowsun, should we use the normal suit or the one with her actual head?
I'm tempted to say the one sans helmet, just for a chance to see more Tau faces. Most of the art I've seen has them helmeted.
I'd go without the helmet myself.
That's the way I was leaning too, so I'll do that. Thanks.
EDIT: And done. Speaking of done, my hammer'nators are just about finished...just need to touch up the base edges and varnish them. I was going to do a Rhino next but I've had a Command Squad for forever so I'll go ahead and knock them out.

I remember reading on the 40K wiki that the Salamanders' first campaign was during the Unification Wars against some kind of techno-cultist army inside a volcano.

I'm gonna leave this here to remind you The Lord Inquisitor is still a thing.

Alright, finished the hammer'nators...sorry for the weird lighting, in our house my Samsung camera seems to want to wash everything out.
Very nice. I especially like the lightning effect on the hammers.
My latest model is a Wraithseer for my Iyanden army.
Thanks! I need to polish my brushwork for the sguiggles but at tabletop level I think they'll work fine.
That Wraithseer looks good. The Ratlings are cool, too, although I can't help but think of Oompa-Loompas with that skin tone.

Thanks, I need to get some new brushes (ones with actual points) to do the runes better though. As for the Ratlings they are quite old now and I can't remember what I did to get that fake tan skintone

And it costs more than two and a half thousand Australian dollars. I could get a car for that much.
