When I saw the little piece put together for after the reveal of the new doctor, I noted that they talked about the fifth doctor a lot. He was also one of the younger ones and in the show there was the hint of he being the greater inspiration out of all the others (10 saying 5 was his doctor- probably a meta gag but still raises a point about the ages of the current writing team).

Anyway, during that piece, they talked a lot about how Davidson (who is also Moffet) was capable of switching to an old man mode. My thought was that they were specifically looking for somebody who could play old man in a young body.

Was there anyone else who liked Simms' Master but hated Utopia, The Sound of Drums and The Last of the Time Lords? It was the stupidest plot devised by man or beast.

@wellinever: I rather liked Simms' Master, and Utopia was okay, as was The Sound of Drums, but the last part, was kind of...bland.

I read that "major spoiler" and wasn't surprised. It's like saying the doctor will regenerate, or that he'll yell at something until it dies. It was inevitable.

Really wasn't pleased with Simms or his three-parter. Not that he's a bad actor, but honestly-his Master made me think a little too much of the Joker. And the Gallifreyan House-Elf business made my head hurt....

Personally, I loved the whole thing. Some of my favorite episodes, right there.

Still, I wonder who it would be.

There may be some on the BBC sites. They've done that with Being Human. Only problem is that it's only available in the UK.

Maybe I could use my psychic abilities to transfer my memories of the program directly into your brain. Gee I hope I didn't go to the toilet halfway through...

Matrix, I understand. That's basically the same reason I don't use torrents. That, and for some reason, I actually feel like there's something morally wrong with using them. I don't care if other people do use them, but I can't bring myself to do so. Although, my recent viewing of Being Human has caused me to want to see the rest of the series might cause me to torrent it.

Matrix - have you tried Surf The Channel? That's where I saw it. It was a few months ago, but they might still have something up.

It's this. They collect links to pretty much all the video sites (megavideo, veoh, all the ones in China), and organize them so people can find the show they're looking for.

Why do you all say Doctor Who is so awesome? I mean, I do like it, but I haven't been able to see what's so special about it.

Doctor who may not be perfect but it has become the most sucessful Sci-Fi Tv series of all time because it it's incredibly varied. I mean just look at the list of tropes it enploys. If there isn't something that grabbs your interest straight away - say ghost in victorian london- you know that next wekk they'll be facing something completely different like Rhino's on the moon. Also it's has huge nostagic value as well. It's something that most of our parents grew up with and something I hope my kids grow up with too.

So it's a combination of variety and the Nostalgia Filter? Okay...
