Love it.
Or that kid who did Eleven's rant in "The Pandorica Opens" for his nursery school talent thingy could pop up along with Matt Smith for a total mind screw:

Ho, Whovians! What news?
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Who Back When just tweeted they finished recording their review of "42", advertising it as "The last 100% derisive #NewWho review for a little while!". They've been pretty good about getting their episodes out on the weekends so we should probably see it then. Their most recent one otherwise was "Enemy of the World", which the two hosts who reviewed it really liked.

Steven Moffat said that he deliberately looked for a woman of color for the next companion. Her name is Pearl Mackie and she'll be playing Bill. Also, Moffat said that media on the whole needs to be better about where they're drawing talent from and that affirmative action is the only reliable way to make diversity happen.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. Not much really. I did go to a con last weekend. It was OK. Frazier Hines and Wendy Padbury were there, so that was nice to see, but — no offense to them, honestly — they're no Colin Baker. (He was there last year.) Still good to see them though.
Other than that, some of the panels were nice. In fact, I actually brought up the fact I that think 10's a freaking dickbag at one of them, and you know what? One of the panelists actually agreed with me! Mind you, he also said that he was supposed to be a dickbag, but whatever. Whenever I try to bring that up in casual conversation, all I get are boos and disdain, so it was nice seeing someone actually take my side for once.
Curiously, I also discovered that Five's got a lot of fans. I personally think that he's as interesting as wetcardboard myself, but a lot of people really like the guy. Some even prefer him over Four, going so far as to say that they would have loved to see Peter Davidson's Doctor with Tom Baker's scripts, which baffles me. I don't hate Five or anything, and David is a really good actor, but while Four's not my favorite Doctor or anything, I still like him, because he's still fun. Which isn't something I can really say about Five. Whatever floats their boats I guess...

Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundSuper-jealous you got to meet Hines and Padbury. Two of my favorite companions.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Well, I didn't see much of them — I spent more time at the panels — but I did stand right next to Padbury in an elevator. She was busy talking to someone about what I could only assume to be important con stuff, so I didn't disturb her, but she was still right there. Same sort of thing happened with me and Colin last year, only at a breakfast table instead of a elevator. (Also, Anekke Wills was there too; just an FYI.)
Now that I think about it though, this isn't the first time I've met Padbury and Hines; that was a couple years back at Chicago TARDIS. Deborah Watling was there too, so I guess you had the whole Troughton-companion set. (Not counting Micheal Craze and Wills, who started with Hartnell.) And just like this year, I was this close to Ms.Padbury, and I still didn't get a chance to talk to her. Maybe next year...

Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundThis is the one...
...where it gets hot and steamy...
...with a pop quiz security system...
...naughty scooping...
...the ultimate Doctor Who countdown...
...and a massive election...
It's called "42", and Who Back When just dropped their review of it. Here we go!
42? You mean the meaning of life, the universe, and everything?

Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundNo I mean the one where they thought they could just reverse the title of 24 and nobody would notice.
Side note: I've been meaning to ask, does anyone know the song the Who Back When hosts sing their intro to? I've been wanting to add it to the page as I'm sure it's a Public Domain Soundtrack, but I don't know the song itself.
I have irrational hate for this episode so I sure will listen to a podcast savaging it.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThen you probably won't be disappointed. I haven't had a chance to listen in full, myself (just enough to get the description in my plug post) but they certainly didn't rate it high in the site. Even the tweet promoting it advertises it as "The last 100% derisive #NewWho review for a little while!"

get rekt, sapient star
Forever liveblogging the AvengersOn the song the podcast uses to sing along to in the introduction, well, it's the can-can:
"The Infernal Galop from Jacques Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld is the tune most associated with the can-can.[1]" from the Wikipedia page on the French semi-porny dance thing:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Can-can
You. Are. Welcome.
Here's a link to the music:

Thank you very much.
So patrick ness said in a tweet that one of the main characters in class will be a dude in a relationship with another dude. That's cool.

The internet is a waste of time, and that's exactly what's right about it-William GibsonIt saddens me that so many of the responses are "please don't kill him".
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. What is it with Moffat offering fat male actors the role of "recurring talking decapitated head"?
...That's a question I really do not want to know the answer to.
"Yup. That tasted purple."The overly complicated answer: Matt Smith himself is actually a decapitated head, slapped onto a robot body that just happens to resemble his flesh and blood one. His reasoning for this rather peculiar life decision is that in order to truly understand the Doctor, he had to become detached from his humanity, and that to grasp the full wonders of the universe, he also had to have an actual out-of-body experience. It's the same with all showrunners and script editors of Doctor Who, as it's the bonafide method of discovering just what writing and managing Doctor Who is all about.
Or, the overly simple answer: Matt Smith has a decapitated head fetish.
Doctor Who — Long Way Around: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13536044/1/Doctor-Who-Long-Way-AroundWho Back When keeps calling Shona from Last Christmas 'Cracky' and insisting that she lives in a crack den.
Its kind of uncomfortable.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersNew Who Back When episode
This is the one with...
...not-so-silly string...
...campy Clark Kent...
...the return of not one, but two foes...
...and the introduction of the soon-to-be Brigadier...
It's called "The Web of Fear". Here we go!
Or maybe one that's a dog.
Capaldi!Dog: Clara, I have to know... am I good boy?
