Maybe if the Heterodyne wasnt standing right there, he might be inclined to see this as more of an opportunity for entertainment. But Dino is the smart one, he doesnt forget his responsibilities.
That said, if Agatha and the Monks get run off by a bunch of bears and a guy in clank suit, I'm going to be disappointed.
Unless the monks are used to lure the bigger threats to death traps.
Well here goes nothingThey have to run. There has to be a reason to go to the depot and play with all the pretty tech, and find some plot point.
I just hope Dimo's trajectory leads to somewhere near the train.

All I know is, my gut says maybe.Someone mentioned in the FB thread that the Jaeger also find the Dreen scary. And there's only two of them (says the novel ).
But as was mentioned in Fables at one point (from Boy Blue to Flycatcher), it doesn't matter how good you are, or what tools you have, if you're drastically outnumbered. One thing I haven't seen much with Girl Genius is Conservation of Ninjutsu. Usually, it takes a realistic amount of muscle and weaponry as well as brains and ability to prevail in a real fight.

'May you live in interesting times.'- Chinese curseConservation of Ninjutsu is perhaps the trope that is the most destroyed in this one, or at least until you consider that it is partly on why some of the royal families rose to power (according to what Gil tells Zola).
Well here goes nothingOne of the reasons to like GG; it's a real challenge to see who will prevail in each contest. It's not like Batman vs 10 or 20 of Ra's Al Ghul's "ninja". (Which aren't real ninja or Batman would have a much harder time seeing them coming.) Then you just wait to see if he clobbers them before he's captured or after he gets free. There's an element of real danger in GG, even if there's some Plot Armor going on for Agatha and a few others.

Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving. -Terry PratchettConsidering how things go in the GG verse the Plot Armor is relative.... unless you are Othar...
Well here goes nothingOthar has something like JokerImmunity.
I think in Othar's case it's Rule of Funny
Othar's immunity being as a Joker Immunity depends on the point of view, sure most Sparks find Othar as their nemesis or kryptonite factor but for the non sparks he is the hero for all the twarted real bad sparks.
Well here goes nothingHence "something like". Whatever the reason, he does have some kind of contractual immunity similar to the one the joker enjoys (as in, nobody can't get rid of him for good).
It takes more ... to kill Othar Trygvassen
All I know is, my gut says maybe.Page.
Scene change. Subtle, Higgs.
<clang>
Good luck, Higgs. The probability he'll take the hint is not large...
Higgs. You make an excellent point, and you had better have a follow-up statement that explains how to apply that knowledge to the scenario (Axe-Crazy super-soldier who was drummed out of the Jager-Kin for attempted homocide is trapped in a time bubble and we need to get him out alive and somewhat sane and/or articulate).
Seriously, though. HIGGS!!!
'May you live in interesting times.'- Chinese curseMethinks we're due for some Higgs back story. Gil certainly looks either surprised or expectant. Will he ask questions? And that's a pretty spiffy uniform our sailor boy is wearing today.

If it moves, eat it!So, what else does Gil know? I'm pretty certain that Higgs knows more than he's said so far.
I also wonder what/who is in the containment unit; apparently it/them lacks humor. Gil's outfit should please some readers as well. He's looking better, more in the madness place, less tired.

Higgs is coming off as almost a sort of conscience to Mechanicsburg — he remembers that the Heterodynes need friends and the Jägers are/were people. Under the circumstances possibly a conscience to Gil, too.
I think it is the containment device that lacks humor.
Yes, I think Higgs plays the wise advisor and it would be a good hook for some back-story. On the other hand, I want to know how Vole looks now.
All I know is, my gut says maybe.Yeah, he stills has dark circles under his eyes, but the reddish tinge is clearly diminished. And he's more relaxed than we've seen him in a while (and by 'relaxed' I mean 'not visibly angry or stressed').
I think we'll probably have some idea of what Vole looks like by the end of August. Higgs backstory- or even some more solid hints on his background, worldveiws, loyalties, etc.- has been a long time coming and I'm more interested in finding out about that.
'May you live in interesting times.'- Chinese curseI think we'll find out about Mister Higgs when Agatha needs to know, or when it's essential to the story we need to know.
Until then, they could tell us, but then they'd have to put us in a stasis bubble.
Plus, part of the Jaegers' toughness comes from the fact that they're an army that's been fighting together for centuries. Dimo might be able to take on one of those bears in a fair fight. He can't take dozens of them by himself.
