The resistance is alive!
I wonder if Renard is resisting commands because a part of Annie really didn't want to give him to Anthony.
Dreamkeepers Prelude, check it out!Dammit, I was just about to say that but I didn't want to double-post or edit my previous one.
That would be a new wrinkle. You have to want to give up ownership.
And honestly, Annie spacing out and just saying 'okay' may not have been a 'I want to do this' scenario.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectIt's a little hard to express, but I vaguely feel like it makes sense. It's all metaphysical and stuff, you know? The doll belonged to Annie. Renard's body became the doll, so his body became something that belongs to Annie. Now Anthony wants to possess him, so Annie gave him the doll... but it still belongs to Annie. Apparently the metaphysics of this world don't consider just handing something over to someone to be a transfer of "belonging". Which makes sense, in a way - something doesn't become your possession just because someone's handing it to you for a moment. To really make the doll, Renard, belong to Anthony, Annie wouldn't just have to give up the doll as a physical object, but give up her possession of it, the belonging of Renard to her... which is something she doesn't truly want to, and in fact probably cannot do. Because the bond she has with the wolf who acted like a father is simply that much stronger than the bond she has with the father who did not.
Yeah, I think along that line as well: the metaphysical bond of "object's owner" is getting overruled by metaphysical bond of true camaraderie they share. Although the higher bond still works through the channel of the lower bond, enabling her to order him around, but Tony can't cross it and get his orders in.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectHmmm: Annie may have given Reynard to Tony... But, the doll he's in still belongs to her. There's been no purchase, no actual gift giving, no real exchange of that — just a focus on the Trickster. A demand and compliance to hand just him over is not enough... interesting.
Yeah, I think this might be Tony's fault. Do you really think he could bring himself to think of the wolf doll as his own? On some subconscious level, he will certainly be thinking of it as "My daughter's doll, which I confiscated" and not "My doll".
All good points. That said, goddammit, Annie.

Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Kat isn't acting like she pulled off a doll replacement, so it must have been done by her faceless minions w/o her asking.

Good ol' Parley: she's spotting all the eepness from that standing start.
And Smit is so lucky that he gets them in right on time.
"You're not still going to do that, are you?"
"That" meaning the whole "free Jeanne" plan they were working on with Parley and Smitty, I guess?
I have a message from another time...I thought she meant "try to circumvent my dad's authority."

Yay, Parley and Smitty!
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself.Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.
Parley and Smitty are here to save the day. Or something.
People are mirrors. If you smile, a smile will be reflected.George is a bit late to Parley, though.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."
The rules concerning Renard's ownership are vague and illogical.
Possessing a doll makes him Annie's slave because it belongs to her? Doesn't really follow unless Coyote intentionally installed that as a rule when he gave Renard the power.
Probably knowing full well what would happen when Renard used it on a doll.
