** In episode 16 Jaden rails on Dimitri hardcore for using Dark Magician of Chaos because it's banned. Since the airing of that episode Dark Magician of Chaos is not only not banned, but it's completely unlimited (meaning you can have the maximum 3 copies in a deck) at that.

* CriticalResearchFailure: Syrus activates a Trap from his hand using Jetroid's effect, while facing an Ancient Gear Golem. Jaden insists that this is bull, but Syrus tells him to read the rules. In reality, Jaden is right - a (possibly now unofficial) ruling states that in this exact situation, Ancient Gear Golem would prevent the Trap from being activated.

The new definition of Authors Saving Throw requires Word Of God or Word Of Saint Paul

* BrokenBase: A lot of people are divided on the quality of Yu-Gi-Oh GX Abridged since [=ShadyVox=] left to persue his music career, some think it's still good, some don't but think Xthedarkone just needs time to find his voice on his own and some have given up entirely on the series. Specifically, this was sparked by episode 19, his take on a much-maligned filler episode of the original series, which barely parodies the episode and instead spends 2/3 of the video on either commentary or a mock trailer for the next one.

* AuthorsSavingThrow: In regards to the development of the series itself, as well as the plot holes it covered from the original...
** As seen in GrowingTheBeard, the low-quality dub footage was replaced with much higher quality footage from the Japanese raws, and the editing and effects improved drastically.
** Jaden suddenly trying to duel seriously against Zane is given a bit more plausible explanation with the context of their Abridged personalities: Zane insulted Jaden in his offer for a duel, mocking his tendency to [[AssPull cheat his way]] to victory, which spurred Jaden to study actual dueling in order to spite him.
** There was a bit of MisaimedFandom concerning Alexis being a {{Deconstruction}} of MsFanservice in the original, which wasn't helped by how she received [[OutOfFocus less and less screen time as the series went on]]. Her duels against Titan and Pierre, were [[AdaptationDistillation put in the same episode as back-to-back events]], where both Titan and Pierre very blatantly regard her as an object to win over. Her retort against them both is much more on-the-nose (especially since Pierre is gored [[GoryDiscretionShot offscreen]] without need for a duel), which is cemented by her defeating Chazz in the episode where he steals the Spirit Keys and explicitly saying that no, she is NOT just a pretty face.
** The series does a much clearer job of {{Foreshadowing}} Jaden being the Supreme King, explicitly revealing that his power to "cheat" is exactly that, helped by his eyes turning a clear shade of gold in situations where he's legitimately pushed to his physical and emotional limits.

** During the duel against Cameron, Jaden lets out the fact he (and a lot of the students as well) hates Tennis. Crowler maybe knew that and that's indeed why he punished with Tennis.

* FridgeBrilliance: Crowler really hates Jaden. One would think after so many mishaps he would expell Jaden with no issue. Yet in episode 13, Crowler insist to punish Jaden with Tennis even when Jaden himself dangled the chance of getting expelled. Was Crowler being an idiot? Well, maybe, but there's a chance Crowler knows more than he lets on.

* CreatorsPet: Syrus. He regularly one-ups Jaden in terms of one-liners, everyone thanks ''him'' for doing something even when it's Jaden who did it while Syrus just stood around doing nothing, and most of his canon baggage like his poor relationship with Zane or self-confidence issues are gone. xthedarkone later admitted that he likes Syrus more as the protagonist and doesn't like Jaden that much, hence Syrus' preferential treatment.

Some other stuff I forgot to include

* GrowingTheBeard: The footage that was used was original ripped from low-quality dubs, and the humor was what one might expect from an early AbridgedSeries. Come the second half of the Seven Stars arc however, and the quality of the footage increased by using raw footage of the Japanese version, while also making more consistent characterization in the process, which also boosted the quality of the jokes as well.
