YMMV / X-Men (2021)

• Awesome Art: The book is practically a showcase for Pepe Larraz and it shows.
• Strangled by the Red String: Synch and Talon's relationship. Yes they spent centuries together in the vault, but we barely see anything of their relationship other than Talon bucking Synch up when he's sad and them having sex a couple of times. She comes across less as a partner and more as walking plot development for Synch. By the time Talon ends up dying, this hasn't changed at all.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Rogue's reunion with Destiny her other adoptive mother, for the first time since Necrosha was quite anticipated, so much so Jonathan Hickman himself wanted to write it. Only when it does happen in Issue #9, their brief interaction consists of Rogue saying hello and Irene mentioning that she hopes Rogue will rejoin her and Mystique in the future, whilst the rest of the scene is Destiny belittling Gambit, her new son-in-law, without talking to Rogue (whom she hasn’t seen in years) again.
• Unexpected Character: While much of the roster was not a huge surprise (particularly Cyclops and Wolverine, since neither of them was on a team at the moment), a lot of people were surprised to see Synch of all mutants on the team, since he’s usually considered a C-Lister at best.
