• In the second issue, the X-Men are responding to the Annihilation Wave, a super dangerous extinction-level threat. Lorna shows up with coffee and sunglasses, as if getting over a hangover.
  • Rogue figures out it's the Annihilation Wave because Captain America used to make them look up extinction-level threats during downtime in the Uncanny Avengers. Lorna isn't impressed:
    Lorna: Sounds like fun.
    Rogue: It was fun for him.
    Lorna: Uch. Was the number one cause of death for Avengers' boredom?
  • Lorna says this while inside a mass of Annihilation Wave bugs and then goes, "This is #@$%&#@ gross, Jean." In fact, she's so grossed out, she closes her eyes:
    Lorna: My eyes are closed—are yours? Oh my god. I opened them.
• And all of this is because of Cordyceps Jones, a sentient fungus living in the body of a dead astronaut who, inexplicably, has a Brooklyn accent.
• This gem in the third issue when the X-Men engage in combat with the High Evolutionary’s Guard:
  Teslephant TESLEPHANT REMEMBERS EARTH’S MISTREATMENT OF ELEPHANTS- AND TESLA!
  Cyclops The X-Men love elephants!
• In issue 9, Destiny's utter annoyance at Gambit, her son-in-law.
  Gambit: We both love her, Irene... but the difference is, my love... don't come with no strings attached.
  Destiny: Hate. You.
  • What sells the moment is the panel of silence, followed by Irene making strangling motions with her hands.
• In the first annual, Bobby gets distracted when he hears one of the villains launching attacks is Bi-Beast.
  Bobby: Is he -?
  Jean: Bobby.
