* BreatherBoss: The Tyrant Dragon. He can take a lot of punishment from your Pygmy form and his fiery breath is strong, but he can be very easily beaten if you can time your jump attacks well.

* ThatOneAttack: [[spoiler:Biomeka would be so much easier if not for the dreaded buzzsaw on the floor.]]

Wake Up Call Boss is, surprisingly, not YMMV. I just double checked.

* WakeUpCallBoss: The Myconid is a decent challenge but doable if you have the best gear. But Knarrg and Klarrg are the point where the bosses will show no mercy on you and need very good strategy to win.

* PortingDisaster: The Master System version starts cutting corners on pretty much everything after the first dungeon. Three dungeons are outright dropped, one of the remaining dungeons features no enemies at all, the scene where Shion saves the dwarf child is so ridiculous it has to be seen to be believed [[note]]instead of running off, the child appears as a block... which Shion has to push around and use as a stepping stool to go back to the village[[/note]], and even the BossRush in the final level is incomplete. All the dialogue referring to the Sphinx utimately leads nowhere, since the Sphinx itself [[AdaptedOut never appears]], being replaced by the Tyrant Dragon. Shion's attacking distance is pathetically short, and the sprite work is so inconsistent, that the distance between his eyes and the size of his head constantly change. The OST is ''very'' incomplete, notably lacking the series' iconic "Last Dungeon" theme, playing the underwater/ice world theme in the sky castle instead. And to top it all off, instead of the save feature, the game has passwords, which are '''forty-five''' characters long! The fact that the port is as bad as it is becomes even worse when you remember that it came out on the same console that hosted the fan-favorite, and much better made, ''VideoGame/WonderBoyIIITheDragonsTrap''.

* AntiClimaxBoss: [[spoiler:Biomeka's second form in the Japanese version only has two somewhat tedious lasers as an attack which can be easily dealt with. Not so much in the American version, where the floor has a super annoying conveyor belt that changes direction every 3 seconds and a painful buzzsaw.]]
