YMMV / Vs Starecrown

Go To

  • Awesome Music: While most of the songs are categorized more as discordant horror shows, there are still some rocking songs included.
    • This remix of Madness from The Tricky Mod qualifies, utilizing Starecrown's unique vocals and comparatively chiller instrumental to stand out from the original.
    • "Operation FrogSong" is a rematch against Fred the Frog, and he brings with him a rock-inspired piece befitting his origins as an RPG enemy.
  • Funny Moments: While generally a horrifying mod throughout, it still got some silliness that could bring a chuckle.
    • The pause menu theme is a remix of "Never Gonna Give You Up", with Starecrown and Boyfriend singing the vocals.
    • The end of "Body Inversion", after Starecrown transforms into an angel and vanishes, plays a nonsensical voice clip originating from RetroSpecter's playthrough of this mod, when he accidentally left his voice changer on, resulting in Voice of the Legion gratitude.
"Well, thank you for the twenty dollar donation, thank you so much."
  • Nightmare Fuel: The entirety of the mod feature this in troves.
    • Starecrown himself, the main focus of the mod that brings all the terror.
      • He's a bizarre purple skin, yellow crown shaped entity with a static chapped grin and eyes occupying large sockets that never blink, just constantly staring as his name suggests. What's worse is that he's an omnipotent being who has a distinct awareness of the various dimensions.
      • Starecrown's appearance throughout the Week being overall freaky, with his first form detailed above being just the start. He gets just a little freakier by "Staredown", becoming an overall darker hue of colors with extremely bloodshot eyes, but his third form takes the cake and swallows it whole. His color scheme changes to a red, deep-purple and black, his head is twisted upside down, he's showing off all of his teeth - not just limited to his mouth, and an Overly-Long Tongue that is also very sharp. Worst of all, according to him, this form is the result of a forbidden art he knows all too well: Body Inversion.
      • Seeing his stills is unnerving enough, but it gets even worse once he starts to sing. When he does, he shakes uncontrollably while showcasing his large amount of sharp teeth. He'll even have his eyes pop out of his sockets for his up pose.
      • The thing about Starecrown though? He doesn't intend harm towards Boyfriend, if anything, he views him as an idol, excited to meet him and hear him sing in person. But by the time the third song comes around, he's got different plans for Boyfriend. Gruesome plans.
"I would never wish to disturb, even if my fascination is at its highest. However, in recent times some thoughts drift slowly into my conscience recommending the opposite. Strong alien urges involving the sacred art form I know all too well... Body Inversion"

"I feel strange admitting to this fact, almost like I never do without peer influence. But it's finally time for your scheduled inversion of the flesh."
        "..."
"He did say I was an anomaly, after all."
        "..."
        "A̸n̵d̶ ̶w̵h̵a̶t̷ ̶e̷l̶s̴e̵ ̷d̷o̶ ̷w̵e̴ ̶d̵o̵?̵"
    • Fred the Frog, while not as bad as Starecrown visually, is still one freaky customer with his psychotic grin and motives that match. Even worse, he implies in his opening speech that he was the one to manipulate Starecrown into attempting Body Inversion on Boyfriend. What power does this frog have over Starecrown?!
