- Fridge Horror: An earlier scene has Detective Keaton interviewing Abby in an art classroom. She's working on a painting where a man has tied a mermaid's wrists together with a rope. It's a possible Freeze-Frame Bonus to notice that she has a slight smile while going over the painting with her brush. When it's revealed that she manipulated Dr. Parsons into killing Monica for her, the painting itself is revealed as a form of Evil Gloating over Monica.
- It's the Same, Now It Sucks!: Many who have seen this film tend to dismiss is a pale imitation of the far superior Basic Instinct.
- Just Here for Godzilla: The film itself has been criticized by reviewers and audiences alike as predictable, and weak on genuine suspense or thrills. It could be argued that the opening murder scene, which combines naked Fanservice with Bondage Is Bad as a kind of guilty pleasure Torture Porn, is the only reason to put the VHS tape or Laser Disc into the player to begin with. You wouldn't miss out on much if you stopped viewing after that.
- Retroactive Recognition: Fans of Breaking Bad will certainly recognize the Forensic Officer as being played by a younger Michael Shamus Wiles.
