YMMV / TwoSet Violin

Go To

  • Gateway Series: The duo have been seen by many music enthusiasts and casual viewers around the world as a brilliant entry point to Classical Music, as they defy the notion/stereotype that "Classical Music fans are snobs" by being very accessible, humorous, and having a very lighthearted attitude.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: As more and more violists are genuinely hurt by and speaking out against viola jokes, this Running Gag on the channel becomes hard to watch.
  • Ho Yay: Both are aware of their shipperific status to the fandom and as such aren't shy to play around on camera. Of the two Eddy tends to be flirtier and really gets into his Edwina act sometimes.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: The channel started with classical musicians being the target audience, but as their popularity grew along with the trend of YouTubers getting more recognition and influential power, non-musicians hopped onto the bandwagon because their antics were genuinely entertaining and humorous. Now, a good chunk of their viewers watch TwoSet simply because it's Brett and Eddy.
  • Memetic Badass: Ling Ling is this. He was originally created when the duo can't measure up to the numerous child prodigies they encountered. The explanation for how the prodigies got so good at such a young age was that Ling Ling, who represents the prodigies, practices 40 hours per day, which is already impossible. The fans took this to an entirely new level and claimed Ling Ling could do many far more ridiculous feats such as playing multiple instruments at once and being able to simultaneously practice while doing another task.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • If you can [X] slowly, you can [X] quickly. Explanation
    • Anything that shows up in a video that the duo doesn't like will be refered to as "sacrilegious".
    • Brett's lo-fi has become a meme within the community, at the very least because it is often used for moments of distress.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: What some of the earlier fans of TSV feel about the direction they're taking to cater to a wider range of tastes. Earlier fans were largely musicians who relate to their skits and had some knowledge of classical composers to understand their niche music related jokes. TSV acknowledged the complaint in one of their videos and explained that they were actually aware of it to a degree and will try to vary their content.
