  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Alex is a friend and former teammate of the protagonist from Alola, and is never actually present in person, instead being mentioned only through flashbacks and dialogue, as well as having the occasional phone chat with her. In spite of this, he was absolutely beloved by the chat for how he constantly expressed support towards her and looked out for her well-being. The Voices regularly took the time to call him, including in-between every battle of the Pokémon League (as each interlude featured new pieces of dialogue), and where actually quite irked when they missed the occasion to call him one final time before facing the Champion due to rushing out of the lobby too quickly.

  • Fan Nickname:
    • The name of the main character was most often interpreted as "Quotes". Although less frequent, "Echo" was also occasionally suggested.
    • vvu the Skitty was usually simply read as "Vu" or "Vue".
    • Chat referred to Murkrow as "Naga"; insistently so, due to the unfortunate alternate interpretation that could be made of its original name, " ngga".
    • Slowbro was named F1, which aside from the obvious "Formula 1" was also widely interpreted as "Phil" due to the "1" being easily mistaken for an uppercase "i".
    • The name rr given to Jolteon led to it being called "Rory" by many players.
    • Lllccci the Nidoqueen sometimes had its name read as "Lulci".

  • Memetic Mutation:

    • "Naga"Explanation
    • #VueWasAHeroExplanation
    • Magma spyExplanation

  • Narm: For as sad as the loss of Skitty was to the Voices after it had stayed with them since the beginning of the run, the tragedy of the moment was sort of spoiled by the infamous "What am I fighting for?" clip from Mega Man X4 playing in the corner of the screen.

  • Tear Jerker:
    • During the fight against Norman, his Slaking turned out to be randomized into a Mewtwo that knew the powerful Psychic-type move Luster Purge. Entei managed to endure two hits, but it was clear that it wouldn't be able to survive another turn as Mewtwo was faster than it. As it was unlikely for any other Pokémon on the team to survive a hit from Mewtwo, it appeared that the only viable option was to sacrifice one of them in order to get a clean switch; so, vvu the Skitty was sent out and ended up falling to Luster Purge, allowing Jolteon to come in safely and take down Mewtwo. After the battle, the Voices reluctantly agreed that this was as good as that battle could have gone, and accepted the loss of vvu, referring to the fallen Skitty as a hero who committed a Heroic Sacrifice in order to allow Entei to live on.
fallingsnowcrystal: Rest in peace, our beloved little kitty Vu. You were a hero until the end.
    • Mt. Pyre, which in the base game is canonically a graveyard for departed Pokémon, turned out to be filled with graves dedicated to all of the Pokémon that were lost over the course of the run. The Voices took the time to look for all of their lost partners in order to pay respect to each of them.
      • Each gravestone featured a randomly selected epitaph; Skitty's grave hit especially hard, as the epitaph for it read "Friend, Confidant, Bodyguard", with the last word reminding the Voices of the way it had perished by sacrificing its life to save Entei's.
      • Adding to the overall guilt of being reminded of the Pokémon lost along the way, one NPC near the entrance pressed the sentiment even further by pointing out that the protagonist looked pale every time she looked at a grave marker, "like those you've discarded on your journey haunt your guilty conscience".
      • Pieces of dialogue within Mt. Pyre also revealed that the protagonist's tūtū, aka her grandmother, had passed away, which seemed to greatly affect her as she had to tell herself to hold back her tears upon thinking about her. A later dream sequence revealed her cause of death as being cancer, as well as implied that the protagonist suffered from serious Parental Neglect issues that drastically worsened after her passing. Right after waking up, the Voices decided to call Alex, and upon the subject being brought up, the Host finally ended up bursting into tears.
Dream sequence: You count the candles as tūtū lights them: ten in total on the cake. "Now make a wish!" You blow them and she claps happily. You wished that tūtū would get better. That the chemo treatments would work, and that you could remain with her... Her precious hānai child... ... ... ... The wish didn't come true.
