YMMV / Truth and Consequences

• Base-Breaking Character: This fic's version of Marinette. Nobody argues that she's essentially the villain of the story, but to what extent that is varies from reader to reader. Some find her to be a hypocritical Stalker with a Crush, bordering on Yandere in her feelings towards Adrien, while others view her more as an Anti-Villain with sympathetic motives.
• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • Gabriel gets a strong negative reaction from Nathalie. It only becomes clear later why she got so angry.
    Gabriel: Nathalie...please. I couldn't have gotten this far without your help; you practically raised Adrien, I insist-
    Nathalie: Don't you dare do that to me! I'm not one of your damned puppets you can jerk around with a few words!
  • The entire premise of the work becomes one with the events of the show's fifth season, wherein Gabriel uses Marinette's feelings for his son in order to get his hands on the Ladybug Earrings and Black Cat Ring, and asks her to ensure that Adrien never learns that he was Hawkmoth/Shadowmoth/Monarch all along.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Kagami, after gaining the Butterfly Miraculous, chooses to go by the name "Monarch." Guess what Gabriel calls himself in Season 5?
• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Nino crosses into this territory in Mending Warped Designs in the scene where he vents about Adrien's poor choices when he's left in a coma, saying he "can't act like [they] wouldn't have fought Ladybug for him if he'd just asked". Apparently conveniently forgetting that Adrien did indirectly ask several times, and they announced their position by helping Ladybug and Mayura attack Chat Noir five-to-one, firmly cementing their allegiance to Ladybug in his eyes. So is it really any wonder why Adrien didn't ask again?
