- Ensemble Dark Horse: Despite being a pre-merger with little plot relevance, Glass Joe turned out to be a major fan-favorite due to his very memorable Death in the Limelight where he took a beating from DIO and refused to go down. This got him a returning Continuity Cameo in chapter 25, and he was one of the 15 characters who got enough votes to return for season 2.
- Growing the Beard: While not considered outright bad, some of the early chapters suffered from being derivative of either canon Total Drama or other fanfics like Total Drama Everything in terms of challenges and character interactions. However, starting from "Secrets, Lies... and Dragons?!", the challenges became more unique and the interactions more nuanced.
- Moral Event Horizon: While Rick was never the nicest guy to begin with, he completely loses all likability when he traps himself and and the other contestants in a VR simulation and sets it to explode (which would have killed all of them for real) unless they defeat him in a timed fight. This includes the likes of Wendy and Nana, and he didn't even have any reason to do so beyond just being a jerk.
