- Americans Hate Tingle: While the band are huge in continental Europe, they weren't very popular in the UK as they only scored a single chart entry with "Ready, Set, Go!", which only peaked at number 77.
- Subverted in the US as while "Ready, Set, Go!" was their only chart entry there, two of their albums did perform moderately well in the albums chart with Scream and Humanoid peaking at number 39 and 35 respectively.
- Fandom Rivalry: The TH fandom is loaded with internal rivalry between French fans and German fans.
- A brief weird one when MTV Europe Music Awards put them in a poll for "Best Act Ever" in 2008, Rick Astley also happened to be in the same poll, so a massive ballot stuffing war raged between the Tokio Army and a bunch of trolls trying to rickroll everyone.
- Germans Love David Hasselhoff: In the late 2000's, the band was insanely popular in France and Belgium.
- Memetic Mutation:
- Sometime around 2006 to 2008, 4chan got a hold of Bill. It wasn't entirely uncommon to see his face cropping up in "You Fall In Love You Lose" or otherwise being placed in threads for sexy women.
- TH-Angie, a young German girl who made a rant against the band's haters, saying that "Tokio Hotel haters are not going to destroy the fans, the fans will destroy the haters". It was seen as so melodramatic that it spawned tons of copypastas and parodies.
- Signature Song: "Schrei" / "Scream" and/or "Durch Den Monsun" / "Monsoon".
- Viewer Gender Confusion: Bill Kaulitz is hit with this a lot due to his highly effeminate look and heavy makeup.
