• Complaining About Shows You Don't Watch: A frequent complaint from fans of the original material, who feel that, since the author first came to the franchise through the anime adaptations (although to his credit he read some of the novels later on), he has a skewed view of some of the elements and characters due to the perceived Adaptation Distillation of the anime. And thus a lot of the fixes of the Fix Fic are seen as misaimed, Adaptation Induced Plot Holes from the anime, or never really needed fixing in the first place.
• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • All Level Plus victims are required to start over from zero again, literally. That means they were back to Level 0 and all progresses they may have achieved in the past were deleted. Not to mention the brain damage of the victims that can get worse from time to time depending on each individual. Furthermore, since they already took Power Curriculum Program, they are unable to learn magic, meaning they have very little means of defending themselves from future threats, both from inside and outside of Academy City itself.
  • At the end of Level Plus incident, the friendship between Misaka and Saten is in danger, no thanks to the former's Innocently Insensitive words in her attempt to console the latter. What makes this thing especially hard to take? Saten was a big fan of The Railgun and her dream is to be strong like the chestnut haired Level 5.
• Orwellian Retcon: The author made a minor change to the end of chapter 6. The distorted voice coming out of the speaker was originally described as "A tired-sounding woman's voice".
