• Hilarious in Hindsight: In the book, Jerome notes that the antiques and curiosities of his day were mundane objects for peoples who came before him. He wonders if cheap objects easily available to him will become treasures for those in the year 2000 and beyond. That thought turned out to be very correct.
• Woolseyism: In the Russian translation, the only disease J. lacks symptoms of is birthing fever instead of housemaid's knee. It makes his confusion and indignation at not having it all the funnier.
