YMMV / This Is The Police 2

Go To

  • Audience-Alienating Premise: At least some people were put off the game and wanted nothing with finishing it once Jack lost his last morals and transitioned into a full-blown Villain Protagonist.
  • Even Better Sequel: The game improves on all of its predecessors mechanics, making management aspect more complex, calls more engaging, and adding a tactical turn-based gameplay to the mix.
  • Signature Scene: "Why am I here?" The first hint towards Jack's transition to a Villain Protagonist, the scene most advertised prior to release, and some of the absolute best voice acting out of Jon St. John.
  • Spiritual Successor: The game is the closest thing to having a video game adaptation of Banshee.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: A game that focused on a new sheriff trying to shape up her sheriff's department, handle crime in the area as well as growing a spine of her own and earning respect from her subordinates could have been a very interesting story on its own, with or without Jack Boyd in the picture. Instead we got a new chapter in Jack's tale — YMMV if this makes the game better or worse.
  • That One Level: Both Necktie base assault, and Henderson's siege on the Police station. The Neckties base is heavily guarded, making stealth difficult, yet raising the alarm results an instant mission failure. Arresting them proves to be detrimental, as unlike deceased suspects, arrested individuals don't despawn and can alert other patrolling guards, not to mention those who survive during the mission ultimately perish in the resultant fire. Meanwhile, Henderson's smugglers are predictable, but they still shouldn't be underestimated as the cops will only have their pistols.
