YMMV / The Spartan Legacy

Go To

  • Ensemble Dark Horse: The Legacy has its fair share of memorable side characters that fans have latched onto.
    • Commander Braxton is fairly popular among fans, despite being a minor character in the grand scheme of things, thanks to Tatsumari's performance and his expanded role in Final Farewell. Many were shocked and saddened to see him killed off in Brotherhood War, but his popularity landed him a special guest role in Chronicler's fan mail series.
    • One of 'Kodomee's Honor Guards was especially memorable to viewers of Omega Halo for LaughingBlock's strong performance, conviction in his faith, and Dying Moment of Awesome at Saul's hands.
    • The judge in the courtroom scene for Brotherhood War is fairly popular for his deadpan seen-it-all portrayal by LaughingBlock, providing a bit of dry humor to what's an otherwise tense scene.
    • Corporal Adrian Knight from Brotherhood War: Aftermath became an immediate fan favorite for being a ODST and having the guts to single-handedly evacuate citizens from the Lifebringer-controlled cities. Being related to Emily Knight from Omega Halo also helped.
    • John Miller, AKA Zulu 4-Niner, and Albrecht Stigler were very over with fans for being among the first UNSC-Reformist friendships. Many fans were hoping they'd survive and were disheartened when both were killed.
  • Growing the Beard: Chronologically, the series ramped up significantly in production quality, acting, and storytelling with every installment. Many agree that the Generation/Omega Halo duology was the point the series really hit its stride. Lifebringer and Brotherhood War continues to carry this, with many finding the latter in particular to be the best installment in the series thus far.
  • Love to Hate: Hadley, who's arrogance and cockiness can be endearing to listen to thanks to LaughingBlock's performance.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Shipmaster 'Kodomee crosses this when he has Africa glassed, killing 36 percent of the civilians and military personnel stationed there. What makes this act especially atrocious is the lack of tactical gain; he glassed the continent out of pure spite.
    • Commander 'Thalashee crosses this when he kills Commander Harper in front of Saul, forcing the latter to watch helplessly.
    • The Lifebringer crossed this when her Hyboreans are revealed to be the result of various unethical and inhumane experiments conducted by the former on her fellow Forerunners, effectively subjecting them to a fate far worse than death.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Commander 'Thalashee from Generations may very well be a walking source of this, in no small part to a spine-chilling performance from Deldour that makes 'Thalashee come across as the Sangheili equivalent of the grim reaper.
  • Tear Jerker: The fact that John-117, the Master Chief, remains MIA, forever remembered
