- Hilarious in Hindsight:
- The premise of this episode is to find Mr. Burns an heir since he never had children. Fast forward a few seasons to "Burns, Baby Burns" and it turns out that Mr. Burns did have a child after all.
- One of the actors hired by Mr. Burns is an Estonian dwarf impersonating a little girl.
- Memetic Mutation: Milhouse insisting "But my mom says I'm cool."
- Unintentional Period Piece: The episode lampshades the phenomenon, where Krusty delivers a pizza to Mr. Burns while his show is supposed to be airing live by airing a rerun instead, claiming that no one will notice. Bart then turns to a nearby TV to watch said rerun, which immediately dates itself to 1982 when Krusty drops his act after two seconds to announce that the Falkland Islands have just been invaded.
- Values Dissonance: The generally politically correct Lisa non-maliciously refers to the dwarf Burns hired to play her using the offensive term "midget."
