YMMV / The Proud Family Movie

Go To

  • Awesome Music: Dr. Carver’s Villain Song, "If I Ruled the World", is pretty catchy.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The extended ending is bafflingly strange and takes place after the story has completely wrapped up. Adding to the strangeness is that it's animated far better and more fluidly than the actual film.
  • Broken Base: Some see the battle dance with the gangsta G-Nomes as cool while others view it as a detraction from the plot.
  • Crosses the Line Twice: A part of Dr. Carver's Villain Song in the movie has him throwing one of his minions off a cliff after saying that Carver stinks.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The plotline involves the family going on vacation where they end up face to face with evil clones of themselves. In 2019, accredited director Jordan Peele revealed that his next horror film, Us, would revolve around the same plotline. There's even a YouTube video that parodies the official trailer using scenes from the movie. The two films seemed especially similar after the end of Us revealed that like Penny and her clone, the female lead and her double switched families as girls — although in Us, they never switched back. Further companding it is that the revival spoofed the movie.
  • Love to Hate: Clone Dr. Carver is just too evil and hilarious for words. Thumbs up to Arsenio Hall for really nailing the role.
  • Memetic Mutation: This clip where Oscar’s clone (awkwardly) runs towards the camera has been making its rounds.
  • Narm: Despite being The Movie, the animation is inferior to the animation in a lot of episodes of the series, and it's easy to see that the crew cut corners in a lot of places. The only scenes exempt from this are the opening scene, the dance battle, and the incredibly odd time skip at the end of the film.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Dr. Marcus Garvey Carver II's peanut clone is pretty nightmarish since he became evil after the clone was left out in the sun too long and was horribly disfigured and burnt. His mask covering his burned skin constantly falls off throughout the film starting with his nose until he just decides to rip off his entire mask, revealing his horrible appearance. Not to mention he's a blatant case of The Sociopath, who actually has one of his minions murdered during his Villain Song.
  • Signature Scene:
    • The dance battle scene between Penny's squad and the natives, due to being very cheesy and fun, especially Zoey's moment.
    • The Oscar clone running towards the camera, due to Memetic Mutation.
