• Older Than They Think: By sheer coincidence, Nam-Ek has a very similar name as an alien race from Dragon Ball, the Nameks (albeit only in the english translations).
• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: The story treats Nam-Ek as a tragic monster who wants to do the right thing but becomes evil when his good intentions are rebuffed. However, Nam-Ek merely declares his innocence and expects to be instantly believed, without even making an effort to convince Superman, and refuses to remember that he previously gave Superman good reasons to mistrust him.
