YMMV / The Pink Panther 2

• Replacement Scrappy: Il Tornado, a jewel/antiquities thief. He's barely on-screen, isn't actually the one stealing everything and has generally been regarded as an incredibly poor imitation of The Phantom from the Sellers films.
• Sequelitis: After the box office smash of the first film, the sequel bombed and killed the franchise for a fifth time. Reasons for its failure include;
  • The name The Pink Panther 2 being lazy compared to how the Sellers sequels were named.
  • Clouseau having to share much of his screentime with the other detectives.
  • Clouseau reverting to being casually racist and sexist, thus making him difficult to like.
  • The romance-jealousy subplot between Clouseau, Nicole, and Brancaleoni.
  • The film pulling a complete Ass Pull regarding how Clouseau not only knew that Sonia actually stole everything, but how he knew that the original diamond was still intact after the fake was destroyed with no hint given to the audience throughout the film of how he could possibly know this until he actually explains it.
    • One of Ponton's sons does notice Clouseau's Pink Panther replica at one point, but zero hint is given to it actually being the real deal.
  • A minor complaint being that Il Tornado should've been called The Phantom and actually been the one stealing everything.
• The Un-Twist: The Dream Team (sans Clouseau) examines a strand of DNA, and they strongly believe they have solved the case, and they have prematurely reached a conclusion that Alonso Avellaneda was the Tornado. At the party honoring the Dream Team's accomplishments, however, Clouseau reaches a conclusion that only Sonia Solandres could have been the Tornado because she was more familiar with the Tornado's methods than the others.
