** Max finds [[VideoGame/{{Skullgirls}} Double and Ms. Fortune]] to be absolutely [[BodyHorror horrifying]]
** A real-life situation where late in 2019, Max and Jessica ended up in a car accident because a semi-truck slammed them into a wall in its blind spot. The two ended up miraculously unharmed, but their car was absolutely totaled. According to Max himself, the truck driver didn't even notice he was ''actively grinding their vehicle into scrap'' until Jessica's honking made him aware.

* NeverLiveItDown:
** In September 2016 during a stream of For Honor, Max had a RunningGag of CallingYourAttacks by shouting out [[WordSalad random words]]; unfortunately, a slip of the tongue had him accidentally combine "ninja" and "ginger" into "nigger", which he didn't even realize he'd said until a couple of minutes later when the chat pointed it out. While most people realized it was a simple mistake, there was a brief rash of haters taking it out of context to try and smear Max as racist. Obviously this affected Max pretty badly, but even worse was the fact that people who uploaded the clip to Youtube to try and smear him then turned around and demanded a "ransom" of thousands of dollars to remove it (naturally, he refused). Though it eventually died down, there are still people who cling to it as "proof" that Max is a bad person, sometimes in the stream chat (which is met with a swift ban) and sometimes on websites like Reset Era.
** There's also the [[https://streamable.com/dyftg infamous clip]] of him on [[Videogame/GuiltyGear Guilty Gear Xrd]] online again a Slayer, who proceeded to absolutely ''destroy'' him, leading to the [[Main/MemeticMutation memetic line]] "Look how hard I have to work for my damage!". Said match caused him to remove Twitch clips of it and seemingly quit Xrd for good. To this day, detractors of his will bring it up in any scenario involving Max and talks of his skill or about ''Guilty Gear'', most recently with ''Strive'', in an effort to discredit him and nullify his opinion.

* SeinfeldIsUnfunny: This is what Max ultimately felt about ''VideoGame/NinjaGaiden Black''. While he did enjoy the game's combat, once he began seeing the game's exploration and platforming elements (comparing it to ''Franchise/TombRaider''), his opinion on the game started to slowly dwindle. After a long slog of those two elements with the combat taking more of a backseat and the chat being unusually bossy, [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere Max eventually gave up on the game two-thirds of the way through]].

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Max's dog Benny, who plays Amaterasu in the show, has segments and entire videos focusing on him thanks to his fanbase. Being the resident RidiculouslyCuteCritter definitely helps.

** During their playthrough of {{VideoGame/Injustice Gods Among Us}}'s story mode, the guys notice that Shazam's [[LanternJawOfJustice face]] greatly resembles [[Series/LazyTown Robbie Rotten's]], much to their amusement. Later that same year (2016), the cancer diagnosis of Stefan Karl (Robbie Rotten's actor) and the [=GoFundMe=] account created to cover his treatment costs resulted in the rising popularity of the "We Are Number One" meme.

** Max did a weeks worth of legacy videos on Dan Hibiki. Sure enough, The Street Fighter V summer update would announce Dan Hibiki's return. Max called out the fact that many will believe he knew in advance, and he made damn sure to tell everyone that it was all just a coincidence.

** [[InvertedTrope Inverted]]/[[ZigzaggingTrope zig-zagged]] in regards to VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcomInfinite. While Max is still somewhat critical of the game (especially its lackluster roster), he's not exactly shy about hiding his excitement for the game's release. * BaseBreakingCharacter: Of all the main cast, Simmons' is the most polarizing. On one hand, he is loved for being incredibly hilarious, the large amounts of LargeHam he tends to put on while also still being often insightful during less comical, more normal moments, and that he tends to do well at the games the group plays. On the other hand, he tends to be seen as unfunny for how many jokes tend to be a bit disgusting, alongside how he tends to steal the spotlight when the group plays. Also, if you like anime, Simmons' incredibly negative views towards it and constant shouting "ANIME!" can alienate viewers.

** As far as Boss Rage videos go, Max's Asura's Wrath Boss Rage is considered by many to be his masterpiece. There's also the Bio Freaks Boss Rage, which brought us the MemeticBadass that is Lord Ssapo.

** Every time someone in Max's Twitch chat asks him how to not completely suck at fighting games, he always gets straight to the point and says there's no magical way to become an Evo champion overnight; you've got to [[{{Determinator}} practice, lose a lot and learn from your losses]]. While it might be a hard pill to swallow, if you're really passionate about something you'll keep at it no matter what[[note]]Max commonly cites the example of Mike "Brolylegs" Begum, who was born without the use of his arms and legs but still became a world-class ''Street Fighter'' player[[/note]], and Max will point out that all the greats of the FGC like Justin Wong and [=SonicFox=] would say the exact same thing.
** On the other end of the CasualCompetitiveConflict, Max often has some choice words to give for people who think content other than multiplayer and a training room is development time wasted pandering to the {{Scrub}} demographic. Even though Max is above average in most of the fighting games he plays, he'll always advocate for quality single player and/or co-op content that's friendly to casuals, because potentially having more people to help grow the competitive scene never hurts.
