- Epic Riff: John Deacon's driving bass riff throughout "The Invisible Man" has become such an iconic and instantly-recognizable element of the song that when the Danny Phantom staff decided to make the show's theme song a homage to the Queen piece, the songwriters made sure that the bassline would be the first thing the listener heard.
- Harsher in Hindsight: In "Khashoggi's Ship", Freddie Mercury sings "Who said that my party was all over?/Uh huh, I'm in pretty good shape" with the knowledge that he'd be gone in a few years time. Ouch.
- See also "The Miracle" and "Was it All Worth It" (allegedly intended to be a Dying Moment of Awesome, as Freddie didn't expect to make as much material as he did later in life).
- Misaimed Fandom: "I Want It All" is about ambition (the title deriving from writer Brian May's wife's favorite sayings), not a gay anthem or anti-Apartheid as some have interpreted it.
- Paranoia Fuel: "The Invisible Man".I'm your meanest thoughtI'm your darkest fearBut I'll never get caughtYou can't shake me, shake me dear
- Retroactive Recognition: Ross McCall is the kid who portrayed Freddie in the music video for "The Miracle".
- Suspiciously Similar Song: "The Invisible Man", specifically its verse part, has frequently been likened to the title theme of Ghostbusters by Ray Parker, Jr. - which itself is a Suspiciously Similar Song to Huey Lewis and the News' "I Want a New Drug".
