YMMV / The Loud House S1E3 "Driving Miss Hazy / No Guts, No Glori"

"Driving Miss Hazy"

  • Alternate Character Interpretation: About Lynn Sr.'s crying during the Fire Hydrant Paperboy Nun Incident. Is he sobbing because he knows it's hopeless teaching Leni to drive? Or, knowing Vanzilla's history as a Loud family heirloom, is it because she damaged his "baby" again?
  • Strawman Has a Point: Lori can seem downright bossy and selfish in making her sisters do her chores in exchange for driving them to their favorite places. But imagine NINE sisters pestering you all the time to serve their interests. How much free time would you have to do your own things? How much time would you have left for you to wash your clothes or do your homework? How long would it take before you had a nervous breakdown? Bargaining with the sisters is a good way to control their impulses (after all, many times they will give up going somewhere just to not face Lori's tasks) and show them that not only her, but everyone has duties to fulfill within from home.

"No Guts, No Glori"

  • Strawman Has a Point: Although Lori is strict with her siblings, she has reasons for each of her prohibitions: Luna plays too loud, Lana makes the house dirty with her mud pies, Leni can increase the landline bill if she talks too much, and Lincoln is addicted to video games. Lily, on the other hand, uses diapers to... well, to avoid unpleasant scenes! Likewise, forcing siblings to fold their arms and stare at the wall until they fall asleep might sound a bit abusive, but if you lived with 10 siblings who were full-time ramblers and rattlers and had the skills to wreck the house... you would probably do the same as her!
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not Political?: Lori says that her rule by fear is the only thing that can prevent the house from turning into a pile of rubble. Therefore, this episode's logic, that rule by fear always works, is not that different from a typical dictator's line of thought that Democracy Is Bad.
