• Awesome Music: Nexus Polaris is frequently cited as one of the finest symphonic black metal albums ever made.
• Broken Base: You either love their old sound and hate their new sound (the most common), love their new sound and hate their old sound, or more rarely you might like all their albums for different reasons.
  • Some fans like the remake of In Times Before the Light better than or at least as much as the original. Black Metal purists tend to turn their noses up at it for using synthesizers.
• Epic Riff: A lot of them, especially on Nexus Polaris. "Chariots of Thunder" has an excellent example, as does "Bringer of the Sixth Sun".
• They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Some fans' reactions to the remake of In Times Before the Light. How much you enjoy it seems to depend almost entirely on how much you enjoy industrial music. The remake could be described as halfway between their industrial stuff and Nexus Polaris.
• Franchise Original Sin: Again this is up to the tastes of the listener whether this could be considered a “sin” or not. But the “Space Metal” direction the band took after their name changed had its roots in the second album Nexus Polaris, which started the outer space themes not present as much if at all in the first album, but would become front and center by SETI.
