YMMV / The Finals

Go To

  • Awesome Music: The game boasts a short but brilliant soundtrack that'll energize and hype you up between matches, with a bombastic style inspired by the music from "big budget" events like Formula One and Eurovision. Season 2 replaces it with a much different but equally energizing soundtrack reminiscent of the music from 8-bit era video games.
  • Complacent Gaming Syndrome:
    • Medium players are infamous for mostly running the FCAR with Recon Senses. The former is a straight upgrade from the simple but reliable AKM rifle, with its higher DPS and accuracy only being offset by its smaller mag capacity, while the latter is basically free wallhacks which, prior to its Nerf, allowed players to see enemies on the other side of the map. You'll also be hard-pressed to find a Medium that doesn't have the Defibrillator equipped, as its fast revive ability makes it an indispensible tool for gaining the upper hand during intense fights.
    • The Stun Gun is a favorite among Lights, given its ability to turn dangerous targets into sitting ducks and interrupt enemies who are attempting to steal a cashout.
    • Heavy players are seldom seen without the Mesh Shield or Dome Shield, both being surefire means to protect themselves and their teammates at a moment's notice.
  • Game-Breaker:
    • "Nukes", the fan-coined term for exploding barrels with explosive gadgets attached to them. They cause massive explosions when detonated and essentially grant players a free One-Hit Kill (or three), tarnishing the experience for those who feel that such a tactic is unwelcome in a high time-to-kill shooter. The potency of nukes was reduced by a series of nerfs which decreased the distance that carriables with gadgets attached can be thrown and removed the damage stacking caused by multiple explosive gadgets detonating at once, and even further reigned in during Season 2 with a change that makes gas cylinders spin out of control if they have gadgets attached and forces said gadgets to rearm after the object they're attached to gets thrown, which effectively nullified the ability to nuke and get a free insta-kill.
    • Recon Senses was also viewed as such, as it essentially gave players a legal form of wallhacking; unlike similar gadgets in the game which can only detect enemies with a limited-radius sonar ping or one at a time, this specialization could continuously detect anyone around the user within a 30-meter radius (and even further prior to its mid-Season 1 nerf), and on top of that could be toggled on demand and drained very slowly. These elements made it difficult to outwit anyone who ran Recon Senses, which the developers acknowledged by removing it in Season 2, reassuring that it would only be added back after a thorough rework.
  • Low-Tier Letdown: The Light build. Their mobility and raw damage potential can make them a force to be reckoned with in the right hands, but much of the playerbase looks down upon them since their small health pool means they'll die if an enemy so much as sneezes on them, and their specialization lies in singling out opponents as opposed to playing the objective, especially when said objective is locked down to the point where pushing/defending is a death sentence.
