YMMV / The Closer: Game of the Year Edition

Go To

  • Awesome Moments: Game 7. After losing every battle with The Machine up to this point, being able to bean the bastard in the face would be satisfying enough, but everyone gets a turn at stomping him: Kami overcomes the problems initially posed to her, Zizek manages to flawlessly deconstruct The Machine's and the Illuminati's motives, @twitter utterly massacres legions of clones of him, and the Closer is able to finally strike him out and save the world.
  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The detour into Dragon Quest is pretty tonally disconnected from the rest of the game, and not referenced again aside from the Dragon Slayer pitch.
  • Game-Breaker: The Curveball is a mid-game variant, as it's almost a guaranteed strike when at two strikes. The Knuckle-Curve also tends to fool the batter often, leading to easy strikeouts.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: @twitter being a semi-Anthropomorphic Personification of the site becomes all the more amusing after an art trend in early 2019 where Twitter users anthropomorphized the site's logo in response to the odd guidelines for use of the Twitter logo.
  • Nightmare Fuel:
    • The version of Jimmy Dugan from the eroge is pretty disconcerting in mannerisms already, but becomes even moreso once the Closer and friends enter the game, accidentally granting Dugan magic powers which he intends to use to ensure the Cessation of Existence of the main party for having control over him.
    • As silly as it is, The Machine completely losing it after the Cosmic Deadline for Armageddon passes without incident and transforming into a baseball demon intending to kill the Closer is taken pretty seriously by the rest of the players.
