- Anvilicious: The series' main message about celebrating non-standard lifestyles is dialed up massively for the animated series. Of course, Tropes Are Tools; the lack of subtlety works very well for an animated show made for younger audiences.
- Awesome Music: Quite a few fans consider this series' theme to be their favorite rendition of the classic theme song.
- The Problem with Licensed Games: Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt was Ocean's attempt at recapturing the essence of the movie-based game. However, it lacked quite a number of what made the previous game great. The level design is lackluster and quite linear, there are no power-ups, there are even less secrets than its predecessor, and to top it all off, the ending is nothing more than a congratulations screen no matter the difficulty. The only saving grace is its grim and beautiful music.
- The Scrappy: The Normanmeyers (except son N.J.) are considered this to some. Luckily, they inevitably go through some misfortune in every appearance.
- Values Dissonance: The episode "Girlfriendstein" has a joke that could be interpreted as transphobic today.Morticia: Family, we need to rally together to help poor, heartbroken Lurch.Gomez: Capital idea, Tish! Let's arrange a date for him with Aunt Ben.Morticia: But, darling, Aunt Ben is a man. (beat) I think.
