• Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Ryder. At the very end of the fic, he is shown greiving over Marshall and Chase's deaths, in spite of the fact that they were partially his fault. Despite apparently adoring his pups, this isn't enough to keep him from completely forgetting about them the moment his girlfriend Katie appears, despite him being a single button-push from saving one of them. This distraction is all the time needed for the laser override to be activated and for Marshall to be doomed.
  • Chase, too. Deciding that he'd rather die than live without Marshall, he throws himself into the laser as it fired, leaving the Paw Patrol with not one, but two major losses for no reason other than his own selfishness.
