- Alternate Character Interpretation: Clayton derisively refers to his father, Ethan, as a fool, but goes on to say that the only thing that Ethan ever gave him was his ring, which Clayton nearly dies trying to retrieve when he loses it during a fight with Tarzan. We never learn if the reason why he wanted the ring back so badly is because it was potentially incriminating evidence, highly valuable, or a Tragic Keepsake.
