  • Broken Base: The thirteenth episode featured a shocking double elimination, and the return of previously eliminated Lexxy. Calling it controversial is an understatement. A poll asking "Was it the right choice?" saw the fans go against the show's creators, for the first time, and by less than 1%.
    • A similar event occurred when the fans were asked whether or not they agreed with the creators decision to send Erika home instead of Abby. In this case, the fans decided that the creators made the right decision with the final result being a 2% difference between yes and no.
    • And then the Round 7 elimination, which sent home Monica, saw the fans divided 50.05%-49.95%.
  • Designated Villain: Amy. The roster doesn't really have a villain as all 12 of the contestants bonded quickly and deeply. However, reality competitions need someone to call the villain. So when Amy turned out to be the only one even mentioning things like flying under the radar- the mildest, most basic of reality-show strategies- the label wound up on her. And she later wound up dropping even that. Her fanbase wound up calling themselves "Team Scheme". Amy, for her part, has gone ahead and run with it.
    • After Amy's elimination, the 'villain' label landed on Lexxy for even more spurious reasons, chief among them the fact that she had been brought back after being eliminated, a decision she had no part in making. Lexxy's response was similar to Amy's.
  • Fan Nickname: The elimination challenge has been dubbed the "Thunderdome".
    • The pineapples. Pineapples, pineapples everywhere. There were 105 of them found in the house, and that may or may not include the pineapple-print carpeting. That's how many they FOUND. The contestant reaction was a mix of amusement and annoyance.
    • The contestants walked on their teeth due to lack of sleep. However, that was nothing when compared to the production crew. It shows, especially in the waiting period during elimination.
  • Genius Bonus: For the "Cats + Cars" elimination, Tavis' strip was based around a Truly Nolen car, from a regional pest control company that modifies their cars to look like mice. You could still kind of tell the car was supposed to be mouse-like, but it's not immediately obvious to those not familiar.
  • Heartwarming in Hindsight: Alex's elimination led to a moment that had a really great impact, and not just because he was the one to inspire Mike and Jerry to have that candid moment with each eliminated artist in the car; one of the things that Mike and Jerry said was how impressed they were with his art, given that he only started drawing his strip a year earlier. Even if you don't read his comic, read his guest strip for The Trenches ten months after being on the show and you can see that the praise they gave him was anything but unwarranted.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight:
    • In the first episode, when they quote Katie Rice's artist profile video saying, "I go back and forth: some days I think I'll win for sure, and other days I think I'm going to be sent home first." She both is sent to the Elimination Stage first and wins.
    • In Elimination #3, while Mike and Jerry are struggling to choose which to eliminate of two excellent artists, Mike turns to the stand-up of a different artist from the house and says, "Fuck, I'll send this person home. This [stand-up] is a piece of shit! Fucking ... bring her down here. Wake her up and drive her down here, and tell her she's going home." The creator of said piece of shit stand-up is Abby Howard — who would later demolish two of the best comic artists in the house with her hilarious comics on the elimination stage, including the winner of Elimination #3.
  • Portmanteau Couple Name: Amy and Erika formed a particularly strong bond even by this house's standards. Result: AmErika.
  • So Bad, It's Good: At one point, the contestants were asked to sculpt various objects out of colored clay. They'd then vote on who did the best for each object. When asked to sculpt a plane, while everyone else turned in something that at least looked like a plane, Monica wound up with what Graham described as "a burrito with a stabilization fin." Amy actually voted for it.
    Graham: Walk me through this.
Monica: Well... smash smash smash, 'oh God I can't peel it off the counter.'
  • The Scrappy: In-universe Abby was this prior to episode 19. Mike even expressed in an earlier episode that he wanted to send her home based on her tangent. Thanks to that episode and having the spotlight focused on her she has really shone through and saved herself from the scrap heap.
    • Even the other artists thought that she was gonna end up being eliminated in episode 20.
  • Squick: Played straight, then defied. Some time after the show had ended, Mike found out that prior to the show, the Strip Search house had been used to make a porn video. Much fun was had by all remembering who had used what in that house. More was had when Tavis managed to hunt down the same video.
Mike: haha how did you find it? Someone gave it to me. Your porn finding powers are impressive!
Nick: he spent allllllllll day looking for it
Tavis: Just think about it for a minute Nick, the search phrase will come to you. There's more than one.
Amy: PLEASE TELL ME IT ISN'T "RECTAL WRECKERS OF RENTON"
  • The Woobie:
    • Katie, for being put up for elimination twice in a row. If you look at the comments section on YouTube, a lot of viewers cheer for her.
    • Monica in the interview episode. Her facial expressions and body language tells it all.
