YMMV / Star Trek S2 E11 "Friday's Child"

Go To

  • Plot Hole: McCoy offers to fix Eleen's arm because "they can only kill [him] once for touching her". Except that he hasn't done so yet; Kirk did this, to save Eleen during her execution. Given that it is a major plot point that to touch her is a capital offense, and the importance of the relationship between McCoy and Eleen in the rest of the episode, one is left to wonder if McCoy was her savior in an earlier draft before the heroic action was ... reassigned in the script to the captain.
  • Values Dissonance: McCoy being nothing but impatient and aggressive when Eleen refuses to let him touch her, and actually striking her, looks extremely questionable by later standards of cultural sensitivity and consent in medicine.
