  • Complete Monster: General Hasib Rafendek is the former commander of the Moldonian army who took over the rule from President Hrankoff and enforced a cruel dictatorship on the citizens of Moldonia. Introduced sending more than a hundred Moldonian refugees on a Death March towards the border, Rafendek reveals his intention to execute an ethnic cleansing by ordering heavy machine guns to be fired into the refugees, killing all of them, including a number of children. Later on, Rafendek executes President Hrankoff's aide as an act of intimidation when Hrankoff demands a justification for the genocide, and after finding out the presence of the Special Forces in the city, had local schoolteacher Saira shot for educating children of lower-class citizens, in front of her students, before ordering helpless citizens to be flogged in an attempt to force the Special Forces out of hiding. After taking over rulership of Moldonia by killing President Hrankoff, Rafendek then has the Special Forces Lured into a Trap with most of them killed in the process, even executing Special Forces member Jess in front of his partner, Major Harding, while the latter is Forced to Watch.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Scott Adkins' Talbot, being the sole British member among an all-American cast, and the only character played by a trained stuntman. The fact that he have an epic fight against The Dragon probably helps.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: A group of mercenaries are sent to a fictional third-world nation, whose Puppet King ruler is being manipulated by a dictator who took over leadership and enforces a rule of tyranny on it's citizens. Said ruler had a My God, What Have I Done? moment when it's clear the dictator is growing too much in power, right before he ends up being betrayed and shot by the dictator. The initial mission of the heroes, to rescue a kidnapped Damsel in Distress, ends with them overthrowing the dictator instead and liberating the fictional country from dictatorship. Just to be clear, we're talking about this movie and not The Expendables, that comes out 7 years later.
