• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • Timmy tries to expel Jimmy from the scouts because he's jealous he's not the only handicapped kid now. However, in later seasons he does become Out of Focus in favor of Jimmy, so Timmy's fear was justified.
  • Timmy's breakdown after Jimmy mocks his speech impediment during one of his routines is Played for Laughs. Not so much after "The Hobbit" and the "Post Covid" Special hint how much he actually hates being disabled.
  • This won't be the last time another handicapped kid hates Jimmy out of jealousy.
  • At the beginning of the episode, Stan makes a joke about Cartman not having a dad. It’s not so funny now that 201 reveals that Cartman killed his dad and turned him into chili and fed it to Scott Tenorman.^note Now that Cartman only has a mom but no dad, Scott Tenorman has no parents at all.
• Heartwarming in Hindsight: Jimmy is totally oblivious of how much Timmy hates him and calls him his "best friend". In later seasons they do become best friends for real.
• The Woobie: Big Gay Al. He gets kicked out of the Scouts, which had played a big part in his life, and at the end, even though he's allowed back, he doesn't want to do it by forcing the leaders of the Scouts to take him back.
