** During Slade's attack on Ra's' fortress, you can see one guy literally just... ''stop'' when a Slade mook is pointing a gun at him and try to block it instead of, you know, just killing him. The fact that he stopped to block makes it look pretty stupid.
** It's hard to tell if the cut from Nightwing saying "It's impossible." to Damian swimming out to the oil rig is meant to be played for laughs or not.

* WhatAnIdiot: ComicBook/{{Deathstroke}}'s defeat in his FinalBattle comes down to this. * AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Talia may be lying that the Lazarus Pit won't revive Ra's. After all, given her often tumultuous relationship with him, it might have been a good opportunity for her to eliminate him for good. She is, after all, willing to [[spoiler: rape Batman]] to conceive a child. Also, as Batman himself notes, she doesn't seem to be very broken up about Ra's death.

* ValuesDissonance: All of the comments of how Bruce is at fault for getting Talia pregnant, completely ignoring the fact that he was drugged against his will, would be outright impossible today in the Me Too movement, given that it reeks of victim-blaming and double standards.

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Talia may be lying that the Lazarus Pit won't revive Ra's. Slade's made Terra so dependent on him after [[RescueRomance having saved her life that she's developed a romantic attraction to him]], [[MayDecemberRomance a much older man]], and uses this by promising her they can be together once the job is completed. But when he's seemingly killed Nightwing and is told by Brother Blood that he needs a Titan in Nightwing's place to complete the contract and be paid at full price, Slade has zero problem turning Terra over to have her life and power drained, coldly telling her "[[KickTheDog Sorry kid, but a contract is a contract.]]"

On one end he's a scrappy due to being extremely unlikable and performing extremely improbable feats for a kid his age, while on the other it's clear he's being set up for greater CharacterDevelopment over the course of the Animated DCU. It's up to the viewer to decide whether they enjoy him or not.

* JustHereForGodzilla: Some are here just for another animated Nightwing appearance or for Damian, whose comic counterpart was dead at the time this movie was released.

* TheScrappy: This film's depiction of Deathstroke was not recieved well by fans of the character, being an AdaptationalWimp who acts ridiculously petty and OutOfCharacter and has [[DullSurprise very unimpressive voice acting.]] He's often regarded as one of the worst versions of the character to be put in a visual medium.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: Batman and Deathstroke get very little interaction in the movie even though Deathstroke's plan is basically out of jealousy of him and even in Deathstroke's rant at the end everything he says is pointed towards Bruce and sounds like it'd be better said to him than Damian.

[[AmbiguousSituation However]], [[spoiler:when beheaded by Damian, [[ShapeshifterDefaultForm Ra's turns into a Corruptor]], implying one of Trigon's sons took on the form to mess with Damian's head]].

* InternetBackdraft: This is the first DC Comics DVD movie starring Batman to receive negative reviews and backlash from a significant amount of fans. While far from unanimous in condemnation, many feel the movie has several severe flaws:
** Damian's portrayal as a [[Franchise/StarWars Jedi]]-like fighter is already a little ridiculous, but his ability to fight after having his arms pinned with a steel blade through them is even worse.
** Deathstroke becoming InNameOnly in regards to his characterization and morality. See OutOfCharacter. He, at least, looks the part and kicks a lot of ass.
** Talia and Ra's [[TheWorfEffect both being jobbed to build up Deathstroke as a threat]], with Ra's dying quickly.
** Nightwing being portrayed as a {{Jerkass}} who couldn't stand the thought of Damian wearing his Robin suit. This is in stark contrast to the comic, in which [[BigBrotherMentor Dick Grayson]] himself appointed Damian as Robin, in hopes of mentoring him and raising him to be a better person.
** And probably the biggest hurdle the film faces: ToughActToFollow. The story is an AdaptationDistillation of one of the most epic Batman storyline in the last 20 years, so they have to match that. This movie also follows behind the animated adaptations of ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheDarkKnightReturns'', possibly the most important story to the mythos, and an adaptation that required a two parter. And even the individual characters and voice actors have some tall shoes to fill: Deathstroke in particular is succeeding Ron Perlman's [[WesternAnimation/TeenTitans take on the character]] and competing with Creator/ManuBennett's on ''Series/{{Arrow}}''.
