YMMV / Smoleńsk

  • Anvilicious: The film is so heavy-handed with its themes and subject it borders on outright propaganda.
  • Narm: Beata Fido's (who plays the lead) previous film experience involved roles of extras in soap operas. Her questionable acting skills are criticised by pretty much everyone, including supporters of the film.
  • Overshadowed by Controversy:
    • The production of the film and all the events related with it, not to mention the subject itself, created a fierce debate dragging for years. In the end, the film turned out to be absolutely forgettable thriller with bad pacing and even worse acting.
    • The premiere itself was overshadowed when few days after it the district head of Jarocin bought 2000 tickets using public funds and then donated them to local schools.
  • Periphery Demographic: A disproportionately large chunk of the audience are teenagers (who watch it as a way to get free day at school due to a class trip to the cinema) and vloggers (who watch it so they can tell others not to).
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: Rather than focusing on the events of the plane crash itself or the aftermath of it, the film almost completely ignores it and instead is incredibly non-subtle attack on specific media corporation.
