YMMV / Sherri Martel

Go To

  • Growing the Beard: 80s Sherri wasn't great on the mic, but she gained more confidence and charisma when paired with Randy Savage. Both seemed to be playing a game of who could overact the worst.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Her induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. While it was awesome to see Sherri laughing and heckling the crowd like old times, a year later, some reporters caught up with her on the autograph circuit and asked her about it. She confessed that she cried before the ceremony because it meant her career was over. She OD'ed not long after that.
  • Hollywood Homely: A deliberate example. She was a very attractive woman but as a heel she was derisively nicknamed "Scary Sherri" and intentionally wore unflattering clothing and makeup to accentuate this. Face commentators acting like she was hideous added to this as well.
  • Love to Hate: The audience made it audible that they hated to see Sherri win. Seeing Sherri getting embarrassed got good pops though, which made her a popular manager and valet. Also, her solo version of Shawn's "Sexy Boy" theme, meant to be grating, is a fan favorite.
  • Values Dissonance: As mentioned above, being mocked for her appearance is something that doesn't happen these days in wrestling, especially to women.
