• Catharsis Factor: The gremlin spends most of the movie tormenting Maude and making her fear for her baby. Once they both get on the ground, the gremlin switches from moving around taunting and tormenting Maude to be the one crawling away in fear, before Maude catches up to it and beats it up. There is a point where the gremlin seems to be regaining its footing and start swinging back, only for Maude to block it and keep the curb-stomp going.
• Critical Dissonance: The film earned mild praise from most critics as an uneven but fun genre offering and sits at 77%. Audiences were much harsher at 35%, mostly criticizing the film's lack of realism, limited scope and its heavy-handed female empowerment.
