• Values Dissonance: Gordon (and his wife, Susan) are allowed to have a young girl visit them without her parents present (although presumably with their permission). This hearkens back to a time not so long ago when most grownups were seen as good people, friends with whom they could trust in and not be afraid of and actually had no nefarious intentions. These days, in the very least an adult chaperone – such as the little girl's mother – would be present.
