  • Later, Alvin sitting atop the mountain after Major Buxton gave him leave to think things over. The poor man is so conflicted, facing a devastating internal struggle over what he had learned from the Bible and Pastor Pile about non-violence. While also thinking on what the major had explained about the need to fight to protect freedom.
