When the video was first released a lot of fans were already not happy with the two games being insulted, but the floodgates really opened when the video was rereleased on Youtube years later and after both games were heavily VindicatedByHistory.
** Their VG Vault of an ''ComicBook/{{Asterix}}'' game was criticized by non-Americans. [[http://www.gametrailers.com/player/710977.html The response video]] also states criticizing [[UsefulNotes/AssociationFootball soccer]] has a bad response outside America too.
** Naming ''VideoGame/SonicR'' as the worst ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog''-related game in their first video of the worst (and best) ''Sonic'' games got this reaction to a milder extent. It's certainly not considered one of the ''better'' entries in the series, but most fans consider it a perfectly serviceable title that's technically quite impressive considering when it was released, and in no way worse than the likes of ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog2006'' and ''VideoGame/SonicLabyrinth'', which were lower down on the same list. * ArchivePanic: While none of the ''Video Game Vault''s are very long (2 minutes at ''most''), there are hundreds of them, which have been running since 2006. And there are ''tons'' of Top Ten lists. And that's not even getting into Death Battle.

* TearJerker: Jared announcing his departure from the site on the October 1st, 2012 edition of ''Hard News''. No fanfare leading up to it, and no "At the end of this week[=/=]month..." in the anouncement, just Jared simply stating that he was no longer part of the team, effective immediately. The main reason that Jared was fired was due to him starting to focus more on his own projects over his work at [=ScrewAttack=], causing him and Craig to talk about it, and both of them agreeing that it was time for Jared to move on from [=ScrewAttack=].

* HarsherInHindsight: Craig's (at the time) mild conservatism was fairly quaint in the early days of the site, and was occasionally poked fun at by other crew members: mostly standard stuff like complaining about Participation Trophies and what he called the "pussification" of America. Near the site's end it devolved into Sam and Chad showing him weird or modern stuff on SideScrollers while Craig would shout "Oh, my God! That's so stupid!". By the time of the 2020 US elections, he was publicly complaining that people with a platform shouldn't be political (when said content creators were urging people to vote against the then current administration, that is), and started a podcast with his brother Brad (who had played Unaware Steve in SA's early days) that made fun of "Safe Spaces" and "Cancel Culture". Finally, in late 2022, after "retiring" the previous year, Craig has relaunched SideScrollers as "Side Scrollers" where, besides gaming topics, a new cast talk about Cancel Culture, "wokeness", Hollywood "pandering", YouTube drama, and other fun stuff.

** As of October 10, 2016 basically all non-''Death Battle'' content has stopped for good, the only exception being ''Top Ten'' (which is widening its focus to more than just gaming). Craig, Shaun, Bryan and Parker have have formed a separate channel, [[https://youtube.com/user/GameAttack Game Attack]], that focuses on gaming content and a podcast, hopefully allowing the gaming content to find an audience outside both the g1's (who are the vocal minority these days under all the Website/YouTube traffic) and the Website/YouTube-born ''Death Battle'' audience (who are notoriously unreceptive to non-''Death Battle'' content). [=ScrewAttack=] programming then consistd of ''Death Battle'', ''DBX'', ''Desk of Death Battle'', ''Death Battle Cast'', and ''[[TheArtifact Top Tens]]''. Eventually, the Top Tens stopped as well. It's now all ''Death Battle'' all the time.
** Speaking of the Top Tens, the decision starting in ~2016 to feature animation and live action film as some of the choices/topics didn't sit well with parts of the fanbase, who thought Top Tens should be ''solely'' about video games.

* FandomRivalry: Over time gained an inter-fandom Rivalry with WebVideo/DeathBattle due to a precived oversaturation and promotion of it compared to the rest of Screwattack's shows. When it was announced that all non-Death Battle content would be discontinued it was very common to see coments like "Well I'm unsubscribing"

This is mainly due to them being bought and acquired by a company which owned Rooster Teeth. Seeing as Rooster Teeth's version of Hard News has more views, and moving Hard News from [=ScrewAttack=] to gauge its popularity, it's safe to say that Hard News is down for good. As to whether or not this was a wise choice is up to debate, but business is business.
