Moid]] first acts as the seemingly-polite observer of Pharos, before revealing himself later on as a madman of a scientist willing to endanger the whole universe, [[ForScience all to satisfy his own curiosities]]. As the one truly responsible for Earth's destruction 20,000 years ago, Moid forcibly implanted the powerful Memoria into Queen Maycum, in his efforts to open the [[EldritchLocation Rinne]], He would later become Dizelmine's TreacherousAdvisor, where, under his services, he would perform a slew of atrocities in an effort to bring about the Rinne once more. These acts would include extracting the power of Dizelmine's lover Yurikano resulting in her apparent death; the war between Dizelmine and Yurikano's brother Villagulio; performing [[MindRape Mind Raping]] experiments on Dizelmine's younger sister Lan; and switching the bodies of Madoka and [[spoiler:Yurikano]], awakening the latter's concience, nearly destroying Dizelmine's main ship and its passengers. Getting desperate, Moid extracts the same Memoria he used on Queen Maycum to implant it onto Dizelmine, turning him into an unstable catalyst that would not only summon Rinne once more but amply its destructive powers to the point where it would destroy the entire universe, much to Mold's utter apathy.

* JustForFun/XMeetsY: It's basically a considerably LighterAndSofter reworking of ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'', with a side of SpaceOpera and [[YuriGenre yuri]].

* TheWoobie: Lan is often on the receiving end of various punishments, embarassing situations and her own insecurities. Add an obvious (despite the seemingly stoic behavior) emotional fragility and she becomes this trope. So very much.

* CanonSue: Yurikano seems to be [[SerialEscalation an even bigger one than Madoka!]]

* GreyAndGreyMorality: Everyone's motives are very vague at best- the only thing we can be sure of is that Madoka wants to protect Kamogawa, and everybody else isn't making it clear why they're fighting. The villains are actively trying to avoid causing collateral damage to the Earth and in general aren't that bad of people, they simply want their weapons back when it's not really told why they're on Earth in the first place.
** Things get slightly less grey in the space war in season 2, where Prince Dizelmine intends to destroy De Metrio to save Le Garite while Villagiulio outright says he will not be like Dizelmine.

* [[ShipperOnDeck Shippers on Deck]]: The girls who produce the student film "''The Spaceship and the [[{{Yuri}} Lily]]''" (starring Madoka and Lan) are implied to be a bunch of [[LesYay Madoka/Lan]] [[YuriFan shippers]].
