- Nightmare Fuel: The Nothing Is Scarier moment when Louise is alone at home and calls for her dog Jessie, who does not respond. She goes though the home and then a fed pops out from the back door to raid the house for evidence that confirms Reed's affiliation with the USSR. The feeling of being persecuted by your country is also nightmarish because it's true.
- Retroactive Recognition:
- A C.L.P Party member is played by Christopher Malcolm, who would later be best known for playing Justin in Absolutely Fabulous.
- A U.S. Customs officer is played by Manning Redwood, who would later be best known for playing Bob Conley in A View to a Kill.
- Special Effects Failure: There is one special effect shot involving a ship tossing on a stormy sea. Not only is it a blatantly poor miniature, it's also a very unusual shot for a film which is otherwise always in the actors' faces.
