* DorkAge: A few.
** For his gaming videos, anything before 2013 was pretty bad due to EarlyInstallmentWeirdness. 2015 is also widely considered a rather bad year, due to Max going through hard times and few people having good attitudes in competitive games, but it wasn't all bad.
** Very few Cutie Mark Laboratories episodes from late 2014 through the first half of 2015 are considered on par with the rest, and view counts dropped off severely after the "Pinkie Pie is Adopted" video.
** Pallet Town for Minecraft Party. Plagued by technical difficulties on the editing side, one cheating player (Peter) and one raging player (Dan), on a board lacking many unique gimmicks, and also at the time Max decided to split up the updates more with no announcement? Definitely not a good time, even if the videos themselves are comparatively not bad.

* WhatAnIdiot: [[WhatAnIdiot/RLYoshi There's a page for it now.]]

*** He isn't unjustified, either. He declares his contempt for her after she lashes out at Max for taking a picture of David Madsen hassling her[[labelnote:note]]The alternative is to step in physically; this cuts David's hassling short by only a few seconds, puts Max (the character) at odds with him as well, and results in obtaining no photo for future use, so it's natural Max (the player) would, this being his first playthrough, rewind after seeing both options and choose to take a picture instead[[/labelnote]], declares the topic dropped, ''immediately'' asks Max to return a book to her, and then when Max goes to do so, Kate ''[[{{Hypocrite}} brings the topic back up to continue chewing Max out.]]'' Max (the player) seems to let that slide until he advises Kate not to go to the police without proof, which Kate gets snarky and mad at despite there being [[RealityEnsues pretty good reasons provided]]. Cue Max giving a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech as he walks out, and later ignores her phone call. [[spoiler:This all results in him being [[DrivenToSuicide unable to save her]] when he tries to be up-front and honest about his reasons for doing what he did.]]

* CounterpartComparison: Not necessarily negative, but between the [=RLYoshi=] Hardcore crew and the LetsPlay/PBGHardcore ones, many parallels have been drawn for the more consistent members:
** Max and PBG are both the heads of their respective channels and often given a good amount of respect by their teammates, but also a good amount of ridicule, and both count as CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass.
** Rhino and [=McJones=] are both the quieter smart guys that can get irritated with the negative aspects of the rest of their team, but at other times will play along for fun. When either of them die, the remainder of their teams consider themselves dead in the water.
** Jero and Dean are loud and random, willing to rush into combat regardless of the potential consequences. Though ironically, Dean is infamous for rarely surviving, whereas Jero has yet to die at all.
** Peter and Jeff ([=SpaceHamster=]) are goofy and knowledgeable; not quite as much as Rhino/[=McJones=], but still looked to for guidance when necessary. Despite their goofiness, they are quite competent at the game.
** Tim and Barry are quiet (though Tim has more snarky quips) and bring common sense to the team, even if they aren't fully versed in the game itself, and have a tendency to wander off on their own.

** There's a ''major'' broken base about him doing gaming videos ''and'' Cutie Mark Laboratories. Tons of people say he should only do the latter, [[FanDumb without realizing he's been doing gaming videos for far longer,]] while others will say it's good to have a variety of content and they enjoy watching both.

* MostAnnoyingSound: Max smacking his lips. It's not so bad when he does it occasionally, usually while thinking or as part of an incredulous reaction, but when he does it [[OverlyLongGag over and over again]], it becomes grating.
** In episode 4 of ''The Walking Dead'' he makes a counter for the amount of times he smacks his lips. He gets to ''over a hundred'' throughout the entire episode.
** Him adjusting his microphone in early videos leads to a rather irritating scratching sound that's painful to hear and very unexpected.
** His demon/Batman voice, to some.
** Jero and Spark can both cause this when they get loud and start screaming.
** Before he dropped the intro in early 2015, the intro Max had for basically all of 2014 had a dubstep theme including metallic clangs and sound effects that were incredibly irritating to many, at least due to the sudden loud volume.
** The voice Max gives Niko in ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheWindWaker The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD]]'' is painfully shrieky, to the point where he even put an onscreen text warning right before. Thankfully, he only used it for their first interaction.
** Rhino's car horn in ''GTA Online'' isn't normally this, but when he starts repeating it, it reaches this status for both viewers and the other guys.

* MostWonderfulSound: Lots of people's laughter. Particularly Dan, Rhino, and - the few times he does - Schuyler.

** The ''Cutie Mark Laboratories'' [[CrowningMusicOfAwesome intro theme]].

* VisualEffectsOfAwesome: While most of Max's editing is just for his let's plays and thus rather simple, he shows his skill in the field whenever he steps outside of that.

* HeReallyCanAct: Max has scored some voice acting roles, and does a pretty good job recording audiobooks.

* TheScrappy: Usually various people at different times. RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap is often in effect here, as a lot of the times, these moments are temporary (though still long-lasting).
** Max in ''Dokapon Kingdom'' and ''Fortune Street'' for his tendency to loudly bemoan his bad luck even when he's doing well, and gets very vocal when he feels he's being targeted (i.e. whenever anyone does anything to him ever). He mellowed out later on in both projects, but in the case of ''Fortune Street'' it was considered by some viewers to be too little too late.
*** Also in Rhino's ''Ocarina of Time'' playthrough, for constantly guiding Rhino around by the hand and getting frustrated when Rhino takes a second too long in any room. That said, as mentioned above, Rhino does have some difficulty with the game.
** Dan in literally any series where he gets angry, regardless of how he takes it out. ''Minecraft Party'' and ''Fortune Street'' especially, because it just utterly kills the mood.
** Tim in the first season of ''Minecraft Hardcore'' for what the viewers saw as inefficient tactics and not contributing much. He got a lot better in the second season.
** Jero in the second season of ''Minecraft Hardcore'' for contributing little compared to the others, calling Max out for something that wasn't his fault, refusing to enter the Nether unlike literally everyone else (besides [[NonActionGuy Jerry]]), and in the end killing Max during the fight with the Wither due to a stray arrow shot, [[WhatAnIdiot during the phase where the Wither is immune to arrows]]. Similar to Tim above, those who support him usually refer to his far better performance in the first season as making up for this.
** Rhino in ''Breath of the Wild'' for offering very little commentary besides occasional random noises, criticizing Max's gameplay, insulting Max himself, and voicing some characters when forced to do so. Even Max and Tim are fully aware that the commentary is basically all them, but he's getting better as the sessions continue.
*** Rhino also has this status in ''many'' playthroughs where he isn't directly playing, just for his tendency to make [[MostAnnoyingSound noise]] in the background; cooking, eating, playing other games, etc. Max repeatedly asks him to stop, and Rhino never listens, forcing him to either spend extra time muting Rhino's audio or just let the viewers be constantly annoyed. Once again, this has decreased - or at least it's not being mentioned in videos as much.
** Spark in general (pre-mid-2016) once he and Max apparently had a falling out.

** Gourmando, an NPC from Rhino's "Reassembly" ''Dungeons & Dragons'' campaign. His [[AerithAndBob out-of-nowhere name]] compared to the standard ones of other NPCs caught the group off guard in a hilarious way, and they took it from there, with Fiora (Max's character) constantly seeking Gourmando's approval.

* JustForFun/XMeetsY: The series itself is ''VideoGame/MarioParty'' meets ''VideoGame/{{Minecraft}}'', but also mixed with Max's own creativity and trolling.

* WhatAnIdiot: [[WhatAnIdiot/RLYoshi There's a page for it now.]]

** Tim in ''Minecraft Hardcore'' for what the viewers saw as inefficient tactics and not contributing much.

*** Max makes everything up on the spot, resulting in hilarity and/or stuff not making any sense. He doesn't even necessarily stick to the rules, which annoys some people (though he got better about that), and he often has a sparse story with pretty much nothing holding it together as a result of his improvisation. However, the sessions themselves are still quite enjoyable, and he's good at making sure all the players get a chance to shine.

* EnsembleDarkHorse: Check the characters page. Obviously excluding Max, all the main eight people there were this, hence their being promoted to more popular.

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Basically everyone gets subjected to this, usually along the lines of "is this how they act in real life?" See BaseBreakingCharacter below.

** Spark is loud and obnoxious, or loud and obnoxious in a hilarious way. Though after what happened when he, Max, and Blake went to [=BronyCon=] 2016[[labelnote:*]]He supposedly got them a hotel room, but he never actually reserved one or informed anyone about this, and he just hemmed and hawed until Max basically went broke getting one[[/labelnote]], [[WhatTheHellHero the patience people have for him is suddenly dropping very low.]]

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: Basically everyone gets subjected to this, usually along the lines of "is this how they act in real life?" Expected, considering basically everyone has shown shades of SoreLoser and {{Jerkass}} to one another.
** Is Max a friendly ditz who likes hamming it up? An annoying {{troll}} that the others only tolerate? The OnlySaneMan just pretending for the sake of comedy? There's evidence to all three and more.
** Spark is, undeniably, overly energetic and very loud. The alternate interpretation comes in whether he does this to try and be funny, or if he's just being obnoxious without realizing. Evidence seems to point to the former, considering Max has mentioned having rather intelligent conversations with him off-camera.
** Max and Rhino's [[VitriolicBestBuds friendship]] is very strong [[WordOfGod according to Max's social media posts]]. Doesn't show in videos with them together, where Max is quick to snap at Rhino for basically ''anything'' and Rhino will be very snarky and irritable in response. Whether you believe the video footage and decide Max is lying, or believe the posts and decide they're hamming it up in videos, it's very clear that one side is not to be believed.
** Dan is either a NiceGuy who just so happens to have his flaws, or a BitchInSheepsClothing who hates losing with a passion. The implication that they scrapped twenty hours worth of ''You Don't Know Jack'' because of Dan's irritation only furthered this.
*** Funny enough, [[NotSoDifferent Max gets the same treatment for almost the exact same reasons]].

** Dan is either a NiceGuy who has moments of annoyance that just happen to be more often than others, or he's a dick who kills the mood when things don't go his way. Lately the former has been more prominent thanks to his angry reactions only popping up when a game outright screws him over (through lag or glitches) rather than just him doing bad, and thanks to him showing his skill in the ''Battletoads'' race.

*** It doesn't help that, despite Max's constant insistence to the contrary, people seem to believe that Max spending time on let's plays actually delays ''Cutie Mark Laboratories'' videos. Max has said many times that the let's plays, with few exceptions, take very little time to do and he makes sure to work on ''Cutie Mark Laboratories'' whenever he has ideas and motivation.

* EnsembleDarkHorse: If someone appears more than once, it's likely because this kicked in to some extent. Here are some examples:
** Peter's [[LargeHam personality]] and [[CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass hidden skill]] have made him rather popular with some people, though [[BaseBreaker some find him annoying]]. He gets much better in later episodes.
** Zero, being one of the first properly good gamers on the channel and being a good StraightMan to Max.
** A few people from his ''Cards Against Humanity'' videos. Particularly [[LargeHam Spark]], [[DeadpanSnarker Brice]], and [[OnlySaneMan Tim]], all of which are now very frequent people on the channel.
** Courier Dan, for similar reasons as to Zero above.
** Rhino and Enigma from ''Screencheat'' (and later various other things) for different reasons; Rhino being TheAce in contrast to almost everyone else on the channel (sans [[ChuckCunninghamSyndrome Schuyler]]) being incompetent to some degree, and Enigma having a quiet voice that just seems to click well with his mild DeadpanSnarker attitude. Not to mention their banter with each other and Max.
** Jero, the {{Keet}} who manages to outdo ''Max and Peter'' in terms of LargeHam. It helps that he also frequently acts as a TokenEvilTeammate.
** Jerry, for being super cheerful and friendly while sharing everyone's type of humor. Helps that ''VideoGame/{{Drawful}}'' made him a hilarious ButtMonkey due to his artistic skill, or lack thereof.
** Enigma's sister, Wren. She's barely a teenager and is a big enough LargeHam to give Jero, Max, and Spark a run for their money. When she disappears from the channel for intervals, people eventually start clamoring for her return.

** Greg and Josh from the vlog he recorded during Peter's birthday.

** The most prominent example nowadays is between Max and Spark; Spark's [[SirSwearsALot comments]], mixed with Max's [[DeadpanSnarker reactions]], will often lead to conversations that can often end in something along the lines of "'Fuck you', 'Okay'".
** In ''Courage is Magic'' (basically a ''My Little Pony'' version of ''Dungeons and Dragons''), the characters Reflect and Ruby are apparently in a relationship. While Reflect is male and Ruby is female, it should be noted that they are played by Rhino and Enigma respectively, both of whom are male.
** It doesn't help that, at one point, a fan asked Max his opinion on people on his channel being shipped. He's fine with it and seems to support a lot of them. He also fed the shipping a bit by [[BiTheWay mentioning he's thought about how relationships between himself and Rhino or Dan would work out.]]
