YMMV / Quiz (2020)

Go To

  • Aluminum Christmas Trees: Many of the events in the show, despite seeming like the sort of thing that would be made up to make the dramatisation more interesting, really did happen, including the man employed solely to set off the confetti when the jackpot was won being caught on the hop, the trial being interrupted by an outbreak of coughing, and the judge asking Tarrant if that was his "final answer".
  • Nightmare Fuel: In the final scene, Charles and Diana are back at home, watching television. Diana gets up and goes to bed but Charles continues watching the TV. He changes channel only to find Chris Tarrant on an episode of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? who turns to the camera and talks directly to Charles, mockingly asking if he was telling the truth or not, while Charles stares on. Then he turns the TV off and the series abruptly ends.
    It's killing me.
  • The Woobie: You do have to feel a bit sorry for Charles at the end of it all. Sure, he cheated, but that was seemingly mostly to please his wife and brother-in-law, and his wife was the one who virtually bullied him into doing it in the first place, as he didn't even like quizzes. For his troubles he gets an eighteen-month prison sentence, two years suspended, and was fined £15,000. He also was forced to resign from the army, something he was incredibly upset about. Also while what he did was bad, he certainly didn't deserve being harassed, spat at and having his dog shot and killed. By the end of the series he even seems to have started hallucinating that Chris Tarrant is mocking him.
