YMMV / Puzzle Bobble

• Heartwarming Moments: A lot of the partner animations in the arcade version of Super Puzzle Bobble tend to be this, humorous, or both. Especially adorable are Bub's interactions with Bob, Anju and Woolen.
• That One Level:
  • Level 87 in the SNES version of Puzzle Bobble (yes, this version has 100 levels, as opposed to the arcade version's 30). All eight colours are used, and the stack starts only three rows from the bottom, so any time you get a ball that doesn't match anything in the lowest rows, you have to find space for it while frantically trying to clear your way up.
  • Level 8 in the arcade version of Puzzle Bobble is really hard, considering how early in the game it comes. The same level is included in the SNES version... and it's Level 45.
  • Level 3 of VS CPU (Normal or higher difficulty) mode in Puzzle Bobble 2: Arcade Edition has you going up against Woolen. Though she looks just as Moe as anyone else in the game, she's seriously tough for an early-game opponent; considering she can and will spam you with combos within the first few seconds, and is smarter than a good deal of even the later opponents.
• Toy Ship: While they're officially friends, a good deal of attraction is implied between Bub and the aforementioned Woolen. It's first shown in Puzzle Bobble 2: Arcade Edition with Woolen flirting with Bub in her intro cutscene (causing him to blush and turn away awkwardly with hearts coming off of him), and most notably shown in the arcade version of Super Puzzle Bobble. While Bub is clearly a little embarrassed to take her along at first, the two are all smiles when Woolen happily jumps into Bub's arms if they score a good combo; complete with sending a swarm of hearts heading towards the rival that causes them to shiver. If they win, they have a special animation where they hold hands and do a joyful Twirl of Love-like dance together.
• Viewer Gender Confusion: Marino from Bust-A-Move 4 is sometimes confused for a mermaid, thanks to being young, having a very child-like voice and being a species where males are rarely represented. The fact that he goes around topless should be a clue that he's actually a merman.
