YMMV / Power Rangers Ninja Steel S 02 E 10 Dimensions In Danger

Go To

  • Ensemble Dark Horse: When considering some of the rangers used for this special, the Neo-Saban Rangers used were the most popular of their respective teams, Antonio the Gold Samurai Ranger, Gia the Yellow Megaforce Ranger, and Koda the Blue Dino Charge Ranger.
    • In addition, the three rangers used during the Post-Zordon to Disney eras were Wes the Red Time Force Ranger, Trent the White Dino Thunder Ranger, and Gemma the RPM Ranger Series Operator Silver. These seasons are regarded as three of the best and most popular seasons during that time frame.
  • Salvaged Story: Dino Charge has been stated in this special to be in their own dimension, solving some problems that the finale of Super Charge caused when the Rangers changed history so that the dinosaurs never went extinct, though it's never said if they were in their own dimension from the start of their series, or if their team got retconned into one at the end of it.
    • Wes also says that there are many different Ranger dimensions, solving some other continuity breaks, like S.P.D. taking place in a different 2025 than what will likely be seen if Power Rangers still exists by that time as a running TV franchise, as well as 2 out of the 3 Power Rangers movies not being in continuity with the TV shows. It could also connect Power Rangers to Super Sentai, since the former's an adaptation of the latter and Super Sentai has referenced PR in the past.
      • This can also help establish the Ranger teams never before seen on earth that Super Megaforce so poorly implemented as ranger teams from other dimensions that may exist.
    • This special also established that every pre-Neo Saban season still existed and still takes place in the same dimension as Samurai, Megaforce, and Ninja Steel. Given the broad strokes, at best, approach the Johnathan Tzachor seasons took in regards to continuity (Samurai was a very direct translation of Shinkenger, as well as being extremely rushed into production initially, which caused it to use language and other oddities due to that translation that made it seem like it was in an alternate continuity, and Megaforce seemed to randomly disregard continuity altogether due to it celebrating the history of the franchise, but also having dialogue that contradicts that, as well as Tzachor's hatred of the Disney era and personal stance that most Power Rangers seasons take place in their own separate universes even though that's not the official stance the franchise normally takes), and Dino Charge changing history so that it can't take place within the same universe as most previous seasons. These things confused many longtime fans, since it appeared that the writers and producers weren't taking care to make sure every new season could take place in the same continuity as the initial Saban or Disney eras, which were established as being in the same canon in Dino Thunder and "Once a Ranger", minus RPM, of course.
    • In "Forever Red". the original script called for the Red Rangers to summon their Megazords to take down Serpentera. Disney didn't want to pay for that, and Bandai helped fund the special in return for them promoting the Wild Force Rider toy in it, leading to Cole defeating Serpentera, the evil Zord that the original Mighty Morphin team had a tough time fighting with their upgraded Megazord, with a magical flying motorcycle. In this special, Tommy summons the Falconzord to help take down Drayvon, with the entire team using their blaster weapons to finish him off. Gokaiger still beat them to the punch on that in their first movie, however, as the production team used a combination of new mech shots, new CGI, and old footage mixed with green screens and photoshop to make every main Megazord appear simultaneously on screen at once for an extended fight sequence towards the end of it.
    • The return of Tommy's Falconzord from his days as the Mighty Morphin White Ranger is considered by many fans as one of the ways this episode was an improvement over Legendary Battle. Unsurprising, as those fans were hoping for a reappearance of the fan-favorite Dragonzord back in Megaforce when Tommy was revealed to be making a comeback as the Green Dragon Ranger.
    • Tommy using multiple powers in Super Megaforce, some of which he shouldn't have anymore, is partially explained with him having the Master Morpher, based on his original Mighty Morphin-era one, which allows him to switch between his older powers by voice activation. Still doesn't explain how he was able to access every one of them outside of Zeo Red, or how he can use the Black Dino Gem's powers again, since his original powers were destroyed, and the Gem's power was drained when defeating Mesogog, but at least it's something.
      • As with the other MMPR, he clearly had new Dragon, White Tiger, and Falcon Coins forged for him at some point. And since the Zeo 5, Turbo Red, and Black Dino Thunder Rangers never used Power Coins, those are clearly new energy sources as well (although the Zeo Coin clearly has part of the Red Zeo Subcrystal, or perhaps the Red Super Zeo Gem, embedded into it).
  • Spiritual Adaptation: To the Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger VS Space Sheriff Gavan movie, since both involve the core team traveling to another dimension to rescue at least one kidnapped veteran hero. Both involve sneaking around in the alternate dimension, and doppelgängers of one of the main guest stars (in the movie's case, Kenji Ohba, since it was to joke about the fact that he'd played 2 Sentai rangers as well as Gavan, and in PR's case, Tommy, since it was a reference to past episodes where he'd had an evil double he had to fight, though he's been in at least 5 different ranger costumes over his tenure as a ranger while playing the same character). The rangers also had to fight the big bad of the adventure at the end, though the outcomes are executed differently and the main team had help from veteran rangers rather than going it alone.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The inspiration for the episode's plot seems to come from Shattered Grid, which saw JDF reprise his role of Tommy for in the live action teaser for the comic series. Adapting this into a kid-friendly show, and cutting the episode to 20 minutes seems to have hurt the overall impact. Forever Red had previously established villains, organizations and Zords, so could get away with having it be one episode long, despite the team's best efforts. "Once a Ranger" had the courtesy of two episodes worth of plot, but the acting of the current rangers fell flat. Not much needs to be said regarding the Legend War (since it's regarded to be really bad and didn't last much more than 2 minutes max), and Clash of the Red Rangers was a full double-length TV Special. It appears that the executives wasted the anniversary with a hastily rushed plot, little to no development, and very little interaction with the Veteran Rangers and newbies beyond the battle sequence.
  • Tough Act to Follow: While better than Super Megaforce as a whole by a longshot, and probably "Once a Ranger", depending on if you like that special or not, this episode still pales in comparison to "Forever Red" in several areas. Mainly in pacing, character interactions, oddly enough the ADR work, and the fight scenes.
